Pumyra episodes thread

I’m interested in a Cheetara/Pumyra catfight for the second season.

I have a theory. Let me share with you.

Pumyra is older than Lion-O, they can not be a romantic partner. It’s like Cheetara.

Lion-O is 17 years old, is a minor.
Pumyra as a lover of Mumm-Ra is equal to an adult relationship, the only explanation why there is never a true romantic scene with Lion-O involving a kiss.

When she died on Thundera, she must be older than Lion-O (it was his relationship from the beginning with Mumm-Ra). I doubt she will be the girlfriend of Lion-O in the future if we look at the age of Cheetara and Tygra as a reference 19/20.

I think Ben-Gali will be the boyfriend of Pumyra and possibly have the same age or older.

Or is it possible that the TV series takes place several months or years in the future. In this kind of series pedobear is not allowed.

Sorry, my English is horrible.

I was wrong, wanted to put this message in The Pumyra Fan Thread.

I’m a newbie.

Besides the part with her being older, this is straight out of my fanfiction. Pumyra always struck me as the same age as Lion-O, maybe even a year younger as well.

So Pumyra is put under a evil spell. Am I right or wrong.

And to the part as there been no romantic feelings. She did reach out for Lion-0 when she was trapped under the rubble at the fall of Thundera.

I have a question about Pumyra’s behavior/demeanor in general. Does her behavior or personality more reminiscent of someone living in an urban area? (I don’t mean to offend, by the way  )

I’m not sure if this is the right place to say this, but i’ll say it anyway. In “Birth of the Blades” Pumyra coldly told Lion-O that he had a lot to make up for, but now that Pumyra’s “True Colors” have been revealed, if anyone has a lot to make up for it’s her.

As far as any Cat is concerned at this point, she is a traitor, Lion-O didn’t come sooner to help the Cat slaves because he didn’t know there were any and because he had more apocalyptic concerns to deal with, but Pumyra willfully sided with Mumm-Ra and nearly killed her king and several of her own kind. To the eyes of any Cat, she’s just as bad as Grune.

I was hoping that Pumyra could still be saved at first, but after thinking about, part of me hopes that Lion-O holds no desire to help her and says something like “No more mercy or help this time, Pumyra. This time, i kill you!”

Just something i had to get out of the way.

2 things:

  1. I just noticed how in “Birth of the Blades”, Mumm-Ra basically told Lion-O how to defeat him. If he would have listened to Mumm-Ra, Pumyra would be out of the picture or at least would have been revealed to be under his control sooner. Lion-O could have kept the Sword of Plundarr and even if Mumm-Ra got the Tech Stone, he wouldn’t have use for it w/o the sword.

  2. With all these theories on how Pumyra will be redeemed/defeated, I think both sides have been shoved to quite an extreme. Those wanting Pumyra to be redeemed expect it to be a somewhat simple process and she’ll immediately be exactly like she was when she was supposedly good. On the other hand, Lion-O killing her would be completely against everything he believes in. Sure, I loved it when Dobo kicked her in the face with an unusual amount of force for a TV-PG show, but killing her or having Lion-O fight and perhaps even kill her is just too far. I think she will be redeemed, but she won’t remember a lot and it will be a struggle to help her side with the cats because Mumm-Ra still has a slight bit of control over her (but not enough to be extremely detrimental). It may seem a little cliche, but they could pull it off. Just my opinion/speculation.

When you consider the fact that her original body is probably decomposed, Lion-O may save her soul but she will still die.

I just want to say something that is possibly obvious:

First theory
[ul]
[li]The episode 26 ends in a hype.
[/li][li]Pumyra is not dead.
[/li][li]That Pumyra is a evil duplicate.
[/li][li]Fake Pumyra and Mumm-Ra share the same view, sees the start of episode 23 in the Mumm-Ra’s cauldron, Remember how she knows where Mumm-Ra is in Birth of Blades. In that episode noticed his eyes shine, is being controlled or She is partially mixed with Mumm-ra. Remember the Sycoraxa mix.
[/li][li]Therefore, Mumm-Ra lies.
[/li][li]Possibly, the real is a prisoner of Mumm-Ra.
[/li][/ul]

Second theory
[ul]
[li]Mumm-Ra lies.
[/li][li]Pumyra is under the control of Mumm-Ra.
[/li][li]Pumyra is not dead.
[/li][li]She is controlled at the end of episode 26. She is also controlled in episodes 25, 23 and 21.
[/li][li]Pumyra curses Lion-O for abandoning them. She is anxious to deliver the sword.
[/li][li]Pumyra seems more concerned than vengeful.
[/li][li]Pumyra accepted the mission to protect someone else… Ben-Gali for example (This implies that deeply loves that person, in the same way that Cheetara chooses Tygra over his duty as a cleric. Both prefer to betray their duties and not the people they love.)
[/li][/ul]

Both theories are simple.
The dead girl is too complicated, therefore the least likely.
Possibly the second theory is correct, because the reaction when she met with Lion-O in the Pit is authentic or indeed is a great actress.

I’d say it’s the ASOE that have the most control over her. So if Mumm-Ra ever says or does anything to betray them, they’d automatically leave him powerless and leave Pumyra to get back to normal, but die in the process, thus paving way for a tragic redemption.

Her outfit. I mean it is a potato sack. If they made it not so slaveish. So she is dead and Mummra made a evil verson of her or brought her back to life evil. I don’t know.

To quote Spock “I’ve been dead before” and I guess Lion-o can say the same too. There are just as many pathways to tragic redemption as there are not. This the Thundercats, a kids show, not a Shakespeare tragedy. She’ll be fine at the end, unless Darth Warner strikes first.

Oh, Hamlet. At least Lion-O knew what drowning felt like. To die while you watch the only means of help walking away from you out of earshot is kinda Shakespeare-tragic in itself.

I go with the first theory (both are good though)and there’s two things I really want there to be true. 1) It’s all a lie from Mumm-Ra! 2) Pumyra is really alive and can be safed.

I’m willing to believe the 2nd theory because Mumm-Ra is evil and will stoop to lying to manipulate Lion-O. :sneaky:

That and it takes away some of the …oddness of Pumyra’s choice. She was shown defending Thundera on her own. Why would someone like that turn on the people she died helping protect? I wouldnt be surprised if Mumm-Ra made her believe he would help the other cats unlike ( by her own logic) Lion-O who left them.

I also like the theory that he’s somehow suppressing the other parts of her personality and leaving her with nothing but her anger .

I love that drawing.

I have a theory that Pumyra was being controlled subliminally for the most part, until in the finale where Mumm-Ra made her evil side take full control. Pumyra wouldn’t have been conscious of it, but she was indirectly guiding the cats to the Sword of Plundarr so they could free it for Mumm-Ra, and during “Birth of the Blades” she could have been more influenced by Mumm-Ra and been made to bring the sword to him. While the “real” Pumyra, the good side, isn’t aware of what’s going on, the “evil” side is aware that she’s working for Mumm-Ra. But even the evil side doesn’t realize that she’s the product of Mumm-Ra’s magic.

While she is being controlled, I doubt either Pumyra’s good or bad side are aware of what’s being done to her. Mumm-Ra’s spell is causing her evil, vengeful side to take over, and it’s that side that’s loyal to him. It wasn’t in control the whole time though, which would allow for the real Pumyra, the good side, to shine through, for the most part.

In ep 19, I think that it’s actually the good Pumyra that’s mostly in control. While she does act very angry and wants to hurt Lion-O, I think that at that point the good “real” Pumyra was still just as angry at Lion-O as the “evil” Pumyra that was aware she was working for Mumm-Ra. However, I can’t tell if the side of her that chose not to kill Lion-O at the end was the good or bad side. On one hand, it could be the way it looked, with the good side being swayed by Lion-O’s display. OR, it could be the bad side chose to let him live so he could lead the cats to the stone and sword later. However, if she had just killed him then that would have taken care of Mumm-Ra’s greatest threat.

20; Again, I think “real” Pumyra is mostly in control, but she gets a little out of control when she tries to kill the mouse. The “evil” side is having a greater influence on her and making her angry, but not actually taking over yet. If the evil side was in control, I think she wouldn’t have stopped when Lion-O made her and really would have killed Mordax.

21; This is where the influence grows even greater. Pumyra is being subtly manipulated to bring the sword to Mumm-Ra, either by her evil side or by Mumm-Ra himself, or her evil side really is taking control and putting on an act. I want to believe that the end where Pumyra and Lion-O have that touching moment is the real Pumyra, but again, hard to tell sometimes and I’ll talk about that later.

23; I think that this episode is probably all be the real Pumyra without any evil side or fakeness. If Pumyra was being evil, I think it would cause a whole mess of inconsistencies, which I’ll get to when I talk about another theory.

25 and 26; This is another point where the evil influence becomes much greater. Pumyra really wants that stone and is willing to go to extremes for it. However, she encourages Lion-O to take it himself. Now, if Pumyra was aware she was working for Mumm-Ra at that point, then I don’t think she would want Mumm-Ra’s greatest enemy to obtain the stone, which is why I believe her influence is subliminal. Pumyra knows that she wants the stone very badly, something is pushing her to get it, but because this is the real, good Pumyra who’s conscious, she might assume that she wants it so badly because Lion-O can use it to save her people. By the end however it’s obvious that the evil side has taken over.

And now to the alternative theory; the evil side of Pumyra is in control the whole time and is aware of her service to Mumm-Ra. For this to work, it would mean that Pumyra would need to be very aware of Lion-O’s personality and motives and be able to manipulate him. Her attitude and actions towards him would play off both his guilt and create his crush on her. Pumyra guilts Lion-O into doing what she wants, and then later makes it seem as though she’s returning his affection just to build up his trust and make him more susceptible to her manipulation. She acts angry at him most of an episode, but then acts like she believes in him at the end to make him think he’s winning her over.

But I don’t like this theory because of a few reasons. For one, if this was Mumm-Ra and Pumyra’s plan, they would have had to assume a lot of things would work. There is a lot that could have gone wrong or just differently. Also, if Pumyra was evil and aware of her mission the whole time, I have to wonder why she would choose such an indirect way of going about things. It would have been easier if she had just escaped the Pit when Lion-O came to rescue her. It would have been easier if she had just killed him when she had the chance. It would have been simpler if she had just acted nicely to him the whole time instead of angry. And the times she lost her temper (vengeance on the rats and trying to take the stone) would have probably gotten herself killed along with Lion-O or totally blown her cover. It just seems inconsistent, which makes Pumyra look dumb.

For example, episode 23, things could have gone very differently. We can assume Mumm-Ra was trying to kill Lion-O, but if he wanted him dead then evil Pumyra could have just killed him in ep 19. Also, Mumm-Ra goes after Pumyra. You could see that as getting Lion-O to rescue her and leading to Pumyra kissing him, thereby building up the crush and making things hurt worse when the betrayal comes…buuuuuuuut, that seems like a really complicated way of going about it. Mumm-Ra couldn’t have wasted what was essentially his trump card JUST to hurt Lion-O’s feelings a little more, would he? And if not, then why attack the Cats like that? Was he hoping to kill all of them except Lion-O and Pumyra to just weaken them? It looked like he was going to kill Lion-O before that elixir stopped him. If Pumyra was totally evil and “in” on this plan, that would mean the whole thing was this terribly elaborate scheme that could have gone wrong on so many levels and uneeded if Pumyra had just killed Lion-O earlier.

The only logical excuse I can think of is that Pumyra wanted to make Lion-O suffer as much as she could while she was with him, and simultaneously build him up so it would hurt worse when she betrayed him. It certainly wouldn’t be out of character if she’s so driven by revenge, but it just seems too risky. It’s just hard to tell because we don’t really know what the “real” Pumyra is or was like. I don’t think the real Pumyra would be that evil and cruel though. If she wanted vengeance on the rats for their treatment of the cat slaves, she would want vengeance on Mumm-Ra and wouldn’t work for him unless under a spell. And I think if the real Pumyra was in any way a decent and sensible person she would see that Lion-O’s not a bad guy after all the times he’s saved her or stood by her or tried to quell her anger. So, I believe that the heartwarming moments she shares with Lion-O, when she admits his methods could work and tells him she believes in him and kissed him, were genuine.

And I think I said this before, I think Pumyra did die, but she’s not dead now, neither is she undead. Her soul, while manipulated by evil magic, was placed into a new, healthy body that is essentially a clone made from magic. I believe her body is as alive as anyone’s and is self sustaining. I believe the main reason she was resurrected rather than just found under the rubble by Mumm-Ra is a hint that she’s being mind controlled in some way. I don’t think Mumm-Ra can do this with any soul, just ones that he can get a hold of. He was able to get a hold of Pumyra’s soul mainly because her rage at the time of death didn’t allow it to pass on. If she had been able to pass on, Mumm-Ra probably wouldn’t have gotten a hold of it. I think Mumm-Ra would have to be very quick to snatch up a soul that was ready to pass on, so it’s easier to capture the angry ones that stick around and haunt places.

I believe that the heartwarming moments she shares with Lion-O, when she admits his methods could work and tells him she believes in him and kissed him, were genuine.

All she did was fake. I think Mumm-Ra chose her because she believed in Lion-O.

Mumm-Ra does not have that power. He can create specters and ghouls but they not support sunlight, nor eat or drink.

Pumyra is not dead, because she eats and drinks.

Mumm-Ra did the same with Panthro in the original series. He created a clone of the real. Pumyra no longer has any use, except if she is alive from the beginning.
Also confused Hachiman in ThunderCats The Movie. Those are the two possible scenario. Do you remember Amortu and Lynx-O?

The only specters that support sunlight, are those that are combined with other creatures, for example the Sycorax or the raven.

Pumyra is mixed with something else, not just her (Amortu, Panthera?)

Pumyra is like Cheetara, but she is a student of Lynx-O, because she’s a soldier, perhaps the only female soldier in Thundera.

She can be linked romantically with Lion-O, like Cheetara and Tygra, but Lion-O doesn’t remember.

In this series, possibly Panthera dies when the The Black Pyramid crashes. This is how it justifies the symbol of the sword and the lair. That’s why not appear in the Leo-Mumm-Ra first fight.

Panthera curses Leo for leaving.

That’s part of the plot of my comic. So do not take me so seriously.

However, Pumyra is not dead, because in the original series is not. (Canon facts)

On thing that has been bothering me for a long time is why would mumm-ra let pumyra free the cats. Maybe he made a deal with her or something. But knowing mumm-ra he would enslave them again when he has the chance. But also pumyra is evil but maybe the good part of her soul is somewhere else like other fans have said.
