The price guide has been updated with the latest average prices. Trends have shown in the last few motnhs that prices are staring to level off but it is important to point out as well that Thundercats toys are still on high demand and are definitely still higher in price than they were 1 year ago. Several extremely rare items have also surfaced in the last few months like a carded example of 8 back Tygra (alone), an AFA 80 8 back Lion O (with battery/maroon hair) and a loose complete Luna Lasher Mummra with a record sale of just over $200. Are the prices for the “loose” figures based solely on loose complete figures, or is that price determined on all uncarded figures sold complete and incomplete?
I was just wondering because some of those prices seem pretty cheap.
Theyre actually loose complete, the amounts are averages. So that may be why some are fairly cheaper than others… I have seen Thunderwings Lion O’s go for less than $100 while some have been over 100.
Well thats good to know. I thought that the prices might include incomplete figures as well. You are right though, prices have been fluctuating quite drastically over the last few months.
Presuming that a new toy line is released with the anticipated show next year, do you guys think that the prices of the vintage line will shoot up? I dont follow MOTU at all, but do any of you know if those vintage toys increased in price when the new line came out?
I couldnt tell you about the MOTU line because truthfully I havent followed it like I have with Thundercats. My best bet is that if there were to be new toys that would probably mean that more people will be aware of the Thundercats they had during their childhood year and they will attempt to get the vintage line. I think that there will definitely be a great resurgence of people purchasing the vintage line. Thundercats is very popular but I dont think in the toy market it has caused the awareness that it deserves, if new toys are released that awareness will grow and more people will want the vintage line.Just my opinion

Don’t take this as 100% gospel, but my understanding is that the prices of vintage MOTU toys did indeed increase when the new line was released. An area where I can speak from experience is with the comics - I own all of the 1980s Marvel/Star ThunderCats comics, and most of the 1980s Marvel/Star MOTU, all of which I picked up in 2000 - 2001 for $1.00 - $2.00 each. When DC/Wildstorm released their new ThunderCats comic series the old Marvel/Star comics shot up in value and stayed there - I think some of those are now worth as much as $10.00 - $20.00 each! Exactly the same thing happened with the 1980s MOTU comics when the new toyline/cartoon/comic came out in 2002… 
Obviously the toys and the comics are two different markets, but based on the trends I’ve seen I would expect a new TCats toyline to push up the interest in (and thus the values of) the original. I also remember hearing something about the TCats’ resurgence on Cartoon Network in the late 1990s increasing the number of ThunderCats collectors, with a knock-on effect in the values of the toys - don’t quote me on that though!

Would the prices in other vintage toylines, like the TRANSFORMERS increase with the upcoming movie in 2007? Would the collectors be more interested in grabbing the new toys? Or like manny said, more people would be aware of the old G1 stuff?
