Please could I ask everyone here to pray for / send positive thoughts to my Dad, who’s in hospital and has to have a 5-hour operation tomorrow night…
He went into hospital to have his gallbladder removed as it was causing him some severe problems - it was a planned operation. The plan was for keyhole surgery, but they’ve had to be more invasive as they discovered that his gallbladder had a massive infection round it, which they’ve tried to drain away but won’t shift…
Looking inside Dad, they’ve discovered that his “bile duct” has become damaged, and so they’re going to have to operate on this. The operation is expected to last for 5 hours, which is a hell of a long time!
My Dad is very low and depressed, not least of all because he’s had to be moved to a hospital where it’s not possible for Mum or I to visit him because it’s too far away and neither of us can drive (and we’ve no family near enough to take us).
For myself, although I’m trying to remain positive, and on paper his op carries no fatality risks barring the usual of prolonged exposure reaction to anaesthetic {sp?}…I can’t shake a bad feeling I have about it. My family have received regular kickings since last summer (my Dad’s heart attack, followed by my Dad being made redundant, followed by the death of our precious cat Louis, followed by all this), and so I can’t help but think about what more could possibly go wrong. Hopefully, please God I’ll be proved wrong.
If you guys could keep my Dad in your thoughts and prayers, that would be awesome and very much appreciated. Again, I cannot thank all of you enough for all your kindness and support of me and my family.

[FONT=Verdana]My Dad is back home with us, having survived the second operation (obviously) - he’s in a lot of pain and discomfort with the wound from the op (which will leave a MASSIVE scar - which he’s gutted about), which also has developed an infection in it and which they’re treating with anti-biotics. [/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana]He can’t drive for a while yet, he’s lost half a stone in weight and looks a bit gaunt…but, it could be a lot worse, and the doctors have said that had he not had this operation, the infection he had round his gallbladder could have caused severe blood poisoning…which could have been fatal. Thank God he had the op when he did - maybe someone upstairs does like us after all! :D[/FONT]
