Posting News/Updates On Main Page & Other Stuff

I’m going through some personal (emotional) problems right now. I’m going to give some people access to post on the main page so that we’re not always behind on releases and such. For example, I wasn’t able to post a reminder yesterday about the DVD release.

Also, I know I haven’t done much on the site in the past months, but I may have to take a break from the site. I have some big decisions I need to make in the near future, and as much as I love the site…it’s going to be hard for me to concentrate on it.

As you can see, I’m an emotional wreck promising things that I haven’t been able to deliver. One day I say I’m motivated to do this, the next day I’m in a miserable rut. The comics section, the DVD section, and some updates to the toy section will come this week, but after then I’ll be on a hiatus until I can get my personal life back on track.

Sorry for letting you guys down.

Oh if by chance someone can get a hold of Mark (I haven’t talked to him in a while), let me know as it seems as though he isn’t interested in the site anymore.

Martin: Whatever you have for the character profiles, feel free to send it to me…I’d like to also have that up before I go on my break.

Thanks.

Manny, I’m not sure what to say :frowning: If you have other things that are more important to sort out in your personal life then nobody can argue with that. I just hope they are not too serious!

Maybe I can hold the reigns for a while? Is putting the pages together difficult or do you have a ready made template I can use?

I know your just talking about the main page, but I’m happy to have a go at updates to the site if you show me what to do. Then when your ready you can take the site up again?

Out of all the team members I’m probably the most flexible at the moment with spare time, but then it’s up to you.

I was gonna pm you this, but I thought it would be better for everyone to know about my proposal. I just don’t want to lose this site after all the hard work and if it needs someone to take over things for a couple of months I’m happy to step up to that duty.

I will send Mark an email to see what he says.

Anyway take care and let me know what you think.

Sorry to hear this Manny but your well being is more important. We have put a lot of effort to put everything together and Im sure one of us can step in for you if anything needs updating. I would if I could but right now I have to worry about words like papilledema, glaucoma, cataracts, hypopion and other stuff that is just driving me nuts at this moment. Perhaps when I come back I can read up on HTML so the load is not solely upon uyou.I think I finally got the basics down as far as modifying the forums. There’s a cpouple of things I may swing by you as far as suggestions for the forum itself. Good luck in everything hope everything turns out for the best

Chris here…

Manny, like the others have said, I’m really sorry to hear about this. First of all, please don’t feel that you’re letting anybody down - I’m sure I speak for everyone here when I say that people are more important than websites. You’ve been patient, kind and understanding with all of us, and worked harder than anybody to create this site - without you, this site wouldn’t exist! If anybody’s earned a break it’s you, so, no more talk of letting people down!

I don’t know what problems you’re going through, but if you’d like someone to talk to, my PM/e-mail inbox is always open! Believe me, emotional problems are something I can relate to - I was ill for most of last year with anxiety/panic attacks and depression, triggered when I fell deeply in love with a girl who I refer to as “my ex-girlfriend” (even though whether or not we were ever actually an item would depend on your POV! ;)) and made worse by trying to deal with these emotional issues through the haze of my autism/Asperger’s Syndrome. In other words - if you need to talk, I’m here!

As far as the site is concerned - I would certainly be very happy with the idea of Neil taking hold of the reins in the interim, as his dedication to the site is first rate IMO. Unfortunately with my workload it’s not really possible for me to take on much more for the site, although I would be willing to try and wrestle with some HTML pages if there was a template I could easily update, and someone could give me an “idiot’s guide” blow-by-blow of how to upload and incorporate what I’ve done (my knowledge of HTML code is borderline zero, all the website designing I’ve done in the past has been using either Microsoft FrontPage or Serif WebPlus like a DTP-type program and then uploading my design). Even if all I could do was update the front page, that would at least be something!

Anyway, I hope things work out for you, Manny - I’m here if you need me!

Take care…

Thanks Chris  I know everyone else is busy with other things right now and I should have the most time to spare out of everyone. However I’ll see what Manny says first as I’m not trying to mussle in on anyone.

I sent Mark an email and pm via He-man.org. I wrote the email out first and when I tried to paste into a pm message on here it wouldn’t work :?

I was kinda in a rush so I just sent the copied and pasted pm to his He-man.org account instead.

Actually that’s a thing I wanted to bring up! When I try to paste something into a message or pm on here it doesn’t work! When I right click an option for pasting doesn’t appear! :?

Well anyway, hopefully Mark will get back to me or eventually turn up here.

I’m just going through a hard time right now. I’m at a crossroad in my life where the decisions I make will probably determine the outcome of my future…and my life. I’ve tried to keep myself distracted from my real life by doing this site and just trying to lay low, but I can’t do it anymore.

Give me a couple of days to figure out what’s best for the site. I have no problems with Neil holding down the fort while I’m gone. I’m gonna get the comics update and the catalog feature for the toy section up as soon as possible. I don’t want to leave the site and I’m not insinuating that I will, but I kind of need to focus on things elswhere right now.

In case you guys are thinking, “he hasn’t done much for several months anyways.” That’s not true. In addition to the comics and downloads (capturing from VCR and such), I’ve been working on capturing screenshots (with the help of Celesta), doing the DVD pages, working on a mini section for CosmoCats, gathering software for the eventual podcast, restructuring the backend of the site, and some redesign for the actual site. I was also eventually going to try converting the entire site into a database where it would be easier for others to use the templates I’ve made, but it’s really hard when my life is falling apart. I haven’t really talked much about everything because I didn’t want to say things to get people excited until I actually had things done. I’ve done a lot, I just haven’t put them online.

I ask about Mark because the forum says he hasn’t logged on the board since last month, which means he either is lurking as a guest or doesn’t know that the board has been upgraded. I kind of need him to say he’s either still committed or no longer interested because I plan on merging the animation art section and the cartoon regardless of his decision, though if he leaves, we probably won’t have an animation art section.

It’s disappointing I haven’t been able to ride the wave of new visitors this month. We’re probably going to end up having for the first time 3000+ unique visitors at the end of the month. I wish I was able to do more.

Oh and I sent MannyC, Neil, and Chris email invite for Blogger. It’ll enable you to post on the main site page. Your email clilent may consider it spam, so just a heads up.

Alright guys…comics update and catalog update soon, then I’ll let you guys know what comes next.

Chris here…

I’m so sad to hear this - I hope you’ll be OK, my friend. Feel free to get in touch if you need to talk!

Goodness knows I can sympathise better than most here - like I say, people are more important than websites, and so I would say take as long as you need!

I personally never thought for a second that you’d taken your foot off the gas pedal - I always imagined you’d be working hard on it!

I agree with your decision about the animation art section, I’ll be honest and say I think this should have been the situation from the get-go - I just hope that, regardless of Mark’s motivation with the site, he will allow us to continue to display the wonderful materials he’s donated (not least of all because of all the work you personally put into creating the webpages themselves!).

Got it, signed up for it! I’m actually shocked how easy it actually was to do, my computer mojo must be improving! LOL!

Is there a way that any of the rest of us can work on creating webpages for the site in your absence, Manny? Not only would it keep the site ticking over (not that there’s a shortage of content in the meanwhile), but also because it would give you less of a mountain to climb when you come back. Bear in mind I’m a total dummy when it comes to stuff like that, I just wondered if there was an easy way of doing it that even an idiot like me could cope with!

No problems, Manny - look after yourself, I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say that that’s the most important thing!

Take care…

I’m sorry to hear your going through a hard time at the moment Manny, but with everything you’ve done I think youve earned a break. And as everyone has said, without your hard work we would never have got where we are.

I also apologise for not being ‘on the ball’ with things myself, I was planning on getting a lot more to you this week with my holiday time but someone very close to me passed away on Saturday so it hasnt been the best week. I’ll send you what I’ve done though.

Hope you fell better Manny:)

Manny could send the email to me again as I haven’t received it.

I did reply yesterday to to your post, but the reply seems to have disapeared??:? Unless it didn’t post.

Sorry I haven’t gotten back to anyone. At the moment, I think the best thing to do is just work on what we can (articles, screenshots, etc). If I were to have someone work on actual pages, they’d probably be lost. For one thing, I’d have to give out the Dreamweaver software and while I’ve already shared other software with people, I don’t feel comfortable sharing this software because I may get caught. I’m sure I would have to help out in some way which I am not inclined to do at the moment.

So I guess until I get back onboard 100%, the main site will be inactive (with the exception of the main page and the forums). I’ve asked for some help with my problems, so things are getting better. I’m hoping I can show you guys some of the stuff I’ve been working on by the end of the month or sometime in June. I guess the other thing that’s slowing me down is the way I structured the directories…it’s difficult to go through everything. I’m learning a new method where once I save a page, it will automatically be uploaded to the site which would save me a ton of time.

I’m not giving up on the site…I definately didn’t expect to have so much drama going on in my life…hope everyone is doing well.

Cool.

Got the email, thanks!

Oh and Mark replied and said he’d get back to me with his full attention soon. It sounds as though he is quite busy at the moment, but definately is still interested in the site:)

That’s cool. Thanks Neil.

That’s fair enough, no problems! Ironically, I did once consider investing in Dreamweaver to create my folk music club’s website, but decided in the end to go for Serif WebPlus as I’ve always gotten on well with Serif software. Now, in the light of this, I wish I’d gone for Dreamweaver!

It’s all cool as far as I’m concerned, I just hope you feel better soon!

I’m certainly keeping well, and busy, although I’m a lot less stressed out than I was a few months ago, which is a good thing! I’m just sorry I somehow seem to have passed that stressed-out feeling onto you… :frowning:

Anyway, thanks for the update, Manny - take care, my friend, and look after yourself!

Take care…

I’ve been clearing up some of my personal issues and I’m feeling a whole lot better now than I was two-three weeks ago. I still have to deal with a couple more things, but I’m slowly getting back into sync with the site. At the moment, I haven’t really done much on the site, but I did (err, still am) trying to figure out an easy method for me to upload everything.

I know I’ve been posting a lot on the he-man.org forums (E3 was the only thing that really got me smiling the past couple of weeks), but I’ll probably be back full time on the site come end of the week towards next week.

Oh and I’m still waiting for those character descriptions Martin…no pressure…

punches fist into the air! Yay, Manny’s back in the house, baby!!!

As ever, I’m looking forward to working with you, my friend - if we can start to get this site rolling again, I’m sure that’ll motivate all of us as we approach the summer months!

Take care…
