Hey guys, just wondering if there’s any way to make the post limit for length bigger (or unlimited, if possible) in the fic section. Reason being, you know me and my long-windednes, and my chapters tend to get rather lengthy at times. It’s a pain to split them between posts, especially when the split is different than at EOT (I tried to get that prob taken care of there, too, but they could only extend it so far and needless to say, still wasn’t good enough for my wordy behind LOL).
Right now it’s at 50,000 characters. If you could at least extend it to 60-70K characters it would at least make it so where the chapters split at EOT would be the same as here, and make my copy/paste job a lot freakin’ easier. Would be sweet to have one chapter per post though.
I looked to see if I could do it, but unless I"m overlooking it, doesn’t look as though my mod powers extend that far.
Thanks Manny! I still had to split a few chapters up between several replies, but the majority could be single shot deals. I think one of the chapters in there so far, came out at some 60+ pages in Word >.< Long winded is a bit of an understatement :mischievous:
At any rate, I’ve got all the fic written to date up here at TCL…maybe when people see someone using the forum they’ll be inticed to do so as well. I also advertised on my board for the section. Hmm, and if you don’t do so already, you might want to add links from the main site to the art and fic areas of the board if it’s not too much of a pain in the butt.
Oh, also when I log out of the forum and look at the board - it always lists the mature fic forum as having never been posted in, but obviously that’s no longer true. Other forums that are private at least list it as private to guests. My worry is, if people think the forum ‘never’ gets used, they won’t be inclined to join and ask for the password to investigate further.
Ok it is fixed now to show private, however the forum will not be password protected but it will rather be locked and once the members inquire for access I will need to manually give them access to the forums. So what we can do Angie is that if they contact you for access forwardme the names and i will manually give them access. Its beetr that waay so they wont have to type in a password everytime and prevents the password from being spread around
Sounds good. I take it that the forum showed it was never used because it was password protected before? At any rate, you’re right that this is better considering people can just bypass us and give out the password without our knowing. Good thinking.
Yeah after playing around with the password feature i noticed that no matter what i did if it is password protected it will show “NEVER” on the front page. The only minor problem now that we have is that if anyone contacts you you will then have to forward me the name so i can manually do it via admin controls. Its no big deal and it is just a matter of editing the user’s access but I think its better this way to prevent the password from being passed around. I did change the description to the forum to show folks to either contact you or me for access. So hopefully not all names go thru you and then you have to forward them to me
I have extended the number of characters to 80,000 so that should be plenty
