Possible problem with my e-mail address?

Hi all,

Just a quick query about a problem I’m experiencing that someone here - particularly Manny - might be able to provide me with some insight into. :slight_smile:

As you guys know, I’ve been in contact with UK comics artist Tim Perkins, who worked on the UK ThunderCats comic, I’ve interviewed him and he was going to be sending me some artwork from his archives for us to host on this site. Well, he contacted me the other day to LMK that he hadn’t forgotten, and that he had got 22 pages of artwork for us to host!! :slight_smile:

Tim contacted me to ask whether my system would cope with receiving a 12.3 MB e-mail in one go, and having just switched over to broadband, I said I thought that would be OK… :slight_smile:

Apparently, Tim e-mailed me the artwork, and received a failed message notification re: my e-mail address, stating that my mailbox for this e-mail account was full. Given that I check my e-mail constantly all day long, this would not have been the case. Figuring it was just a glitch, I asked if he could please re-send the artwork, which he tells me he did, having just e-mailed to ask whether I received it safely. I haven’t received it, and I’m becoming concerned as to why. :frowning:

My question is, is there a reason why my he-fan@thundercatslair.org e-mail address would reject an e-mail the size of 12.3 MB? Is there a limit on how large an e-mail my account is able to receive? I know the problem is nothing to do with spam filtering because I don’t have a spam filter active on Outlook Express. I’ve also logged in to my webmail to check if the e-mail is stuck in the system, and I can confirm it isn’t. I know that e-mails are getting through to me because Tim has e-mailed me twice to confirm I got the artwork OK. I’m very confused! :frowning:

I’m very concerned, as with the Comic Section it’s likely that at some point in the future I will need to receive large scans, etc., via e-mail - if somebody could please provide me with some insight here, that would be very much appreciated! Many thanks! :slight_smile:

I will look into it Chris. It’s more than likely the quota for your email address has to be increased…but I’ll double check.

Everyone’s email address had a default quota of 10 MB. I changed yours to 50 MB Chris. If anyone else wants me to change their quota (unless they have a forwarder), let me know and I will change it.

Apologies for reviving an old thread - I was just wondering whether it would be possible for my e-mail address quota to be increased again? :blush:

I believe I’ve had someone trying to send me some scans of original comic art that he says has been bouncing, and I’m also trying to obtain a rare ThunderCats video clip for the site that I will need the owner to e-mail to me, and I have no idea how big the file is. (I do have broadband now, so the size of these things is no problem.) :slight_smile:

Would it be possible for my e-mail quota to be set as “unlimited”, or at least set to the maximum amount allowed? I don’t know whether MannyF or MannyC are in charge of this side of things, but would it be possible for one of you guys to help me out here? Many thanks! :slight_smile:

Chris, just open up a free Yahoo email account and then connect your ThundercatsLair email address up to it. On Yahoo you get 1GB of space which should be plenty.

I actually had a PM from MannyF earlier today, and he told me that he’s increased my e-mail quota to 150MB - that should be enough for me to be getting on with hopefully! :wink: If I find it’s still a problem, I shall definitely look into your advice, Neil! :slight_smile:
