As a gamer myself and having almost all the platforms.. It is hard to make a GOOD Thundercats game.
All i can think of is all those bad God of war clones where you jsut fight endless hordes of lizards then walk to an other room then repeat repeat.
It will be a game of the fans, nothing that others want to buy and that is the problem. We will probably never have a good quality game of Thundercats and tbh, i would not even see a Thundercats game just cause of this
I really hope they make a TC video game! Even if it is like all the other video games made from a show and isn’t very good. I have been waiting for a Thundercats video game since way back when the OS was on. I remember trying to make my own with the Commodore 64’s pathetic capabilities and my non existent programming skills. LOL
I thing Thundercats would make an awesome RPG like Zelda or better yet Final Fantasy style where you can control several Thundercats. Oh to dream of the possibilities.
Not so sure it would. An RPG needs story and so far not in the OS or THIS one there are much to go from. They pretty much would need to make a separate new one.
If it were to be an FF kind of game then cmon.. They can never beat Square soft in doing such a game. Besides Chrono Trigger is the best in that category!
You wanna know something else? This series is for kids, you can’t deny that. But in the new episode thread people bash it and find faults like it’s a high production movie like Lord of the rings.
If a game would be released people here and most others would still complain that it sucks and other stuff.
If a full-version game is made, there is a simple way to do it. Make a unique story just for the game that can either tie into events of the series, or act as a playable episode or two.
Typically when a movie game tries to reproduce parts of the movie, it fails, and it fails hard. But when a movie game goes with a pre-movie events game, or post-movie events game, it tends to be better. Why? Because you can’t reproduce something in a whole different media and have the same success. Plus making a game that follows the events of something people have already seen kills the suspense.
For example, if they make a game of the first episode, you already know what’s going to happen and when. No fun there. But what if they make a game where you start off as Panthro and your mission is to find Lion-O and the others? Sure you know what to expect when you find them, but you have no idea what’s going to happen between the start and then.
I’ve always envisioned an open world game that paralleled the original show. The main gameplay would consist of Lion-o visiting locations marked on your map that represent villages, chores/tasks, and other such events that once engaged, something bad happens. While in battle, a gauge is filled. Once maxed, you can summon the others.
If you fail, its not game over. Instead, Cheetara may get a feeling something is wrong, or Snarf will wonder where you are. It’d be dynamic but you’ll always switch to someone else to rescue the captives until all characters are caught.
Annointment missions will unlock as you progress. Races against cheetara. Cunning against the cubs etc. Completing those enhance the proper stats and attributes that go with each challenge (strength, speed, stealth, weapons, powers etc).
Example scenario. My map shows icons at berbil village and at the thundrillium mines. One mission would have me help Snarf gather food for a dinner with the berbils and the other to collect thundrillium for the lair. I choose the berbils.
So I travel to the village and speak with ro-bear bill and set out back into the woods to collect fruit. I locate them, chop or shoot them down with the sword and Snarf collects them. All goes well until the mutants show up. I defend their attacks and counter with various sword swipes and energy blasts at distant foes. I can also use an energy shield temporarily as well. Unfortunately, I’m careless in my choice of timing during my Thundercats Ho! summoning as I’m attacked just before I begin the sequence. I never recover and eventually captured.
So now I become Snarf. I don’t have any worthwhile attack options but can escape with ease through the foliage to buy some time. Now gameplay shifts to a chase sequence, both towards and away from the screen as Snarf flees towards safety. I need to jump and dodge obstacles and enemy fire. Eventually I make it to cat’s lair and am greeted by Tygra. Control changes to him and during the fight, Lion-o gets free thanks to the distraction. Now I have an option to swap between both characters. I choose Lion-o and eventually perform the Ho! sequence and summon the others. Again, I have the option to swap between any character on the fly. I want this game.
