After watching Beowulf on Blu Ray, I am a lot more receptive to the Thundercats movie being in CGI, if its gonna to be of the same caliber as Bwulf.

If it’s fan art I don’t really care, but I wish they’d stop trying to “modernize” it.
I don’t care much for that Lion-O it looks like something out of Farscape, I mean it’s okay as a completely new different character from another series but it’s just not Lion-O. The whole part of being part Lion is having some sort of mane not a perm and brades. It just doesn’t speak to me as a Lion-O character.

I consider myself a Thundercats purist, a huge fan. If it was up to me they wouldn’t make ANY new movie and leave well enough alone.
With that being said, I think if you are expecting WB to keep the original designs from the toon intact for the new movie, you might as well just expect to be disappointing. Simply put I believe it is “highly unlikely.”
WB is not going to make this movie with just us hardcore fans in mind. They are going to try and reel in new audiences, while hoping we the old school fans will be happy as well. It makes total sense from a business perspective.
Right now companies are looking to rival Paramount’s Transformers franchise. Sony is hoping the new version of “Voltron” will be just that for them.

There is no doubt in my mind WB’s goal is to make Thundercats into a newly revived franchise much like Transformers. In order to do that they are gonna have to update the “look” of the characters. I mean for gods sakes they (Paramount) turned SoundWave, one of the coolest decepticons ever, into a freakin satellite for Transformers 2.
I know it sucks, being that we are purist and all, but I guess what I am trying to say is to take the attitude of “no expectations, no disappointments” with the new Tcats movie, or every bit of news that comes out is just gonna be more “bad news”.
Oh of course they’re going to make changes.
It all depends on how far they go.
Besides, if I don’t go see it, there’ll be plenty of other fans who will shrug
Me, personally, it will have to just add up to a number of different factors, on whether or not I’ll see it opening week, a few weeks after, or wait til a DVD release or if I’ll see it in the theaters/on DVD @ all.
If the design changes go as far as that pic you posted tho, then I’m totally against it.

I don’t mind altering the outfits… just don’t go all stupid happy with it like they did the X-Men. All that black leather and dark goth look… not so much for cat creatures. (BTW… KEEP BRYAN SINGER AWAY… I HATE WHEN ORIGINAL STORIES GET ALTERED)
Let’s not forget we are dealing with cats here… which means fur… lots and lots of fur.
I just saw Avatar this past weekend… and I think the technology is there to pull this movie off with a blend of CG and real actors. The seam between the two realms was simply not there. The story telling however… yikes…
