That is a downright gorgeous piece, if I had the funds I’d try and bid on it myself (or, in reality, find someone to bid on it on my behalf!) - that was always one of my favourite pieces of Jim Mooney artwork! 
Unfortunately I don’t have an eBay account, so am not able to contact the seller myself - would someone here be willing to assist me? I have a standard “please will you donate to our Original Comic Art Gallery page” e-mail all written up and just needs a line here or there modifying, which I can give to someone to send, but as I say I don’t have an eBay account myself…

I actually liked this piece even better… it has Lion-O and the CatsLair on one panel which was cool
I’ve said it before, I think that once an item has been posted on a site like ebay, the image is in the public domain and we don’t need permission to display it. I know we’re cordial and like to ask anyway, but I really don’t think its necessary on ebay items.
I tend to agree with grizzlor on this, as far as people minding. Most don’t, anyway, so long as you’re not using the image to profit from (e.g. claiming you also have the item and trying to dupe people into giving you money for it, etc), which of course you’re not doing. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the donated artwork along a similar vein I’ve posted on my page in the Wildstorm section was more of the same - just stuff fans swiped from auctions and stuff and passed on to me. I ask that people who donate stuff donate things they own, but then, people don’t always listen and I don’t ask.
However, some ebay auction pics are out of focus and smallish, so I can also see an advantage in asking. The seller might get generous enough to send you a nice, big clear scan of the item. Probably wouldn’t hurt to dangle an offer of posting a link when you credit them, too, directly to their account so that they can benefit from visitors who might be interested in any sort of future auctions along the same lines from that seller. Could be win-win 
The main reason for asking was as Angie noted that the scan is kind of small and so the seller may send a nicer scan. Then again some of these pages are way too big for a scanner so youre left with just a picture taken with a camera.

Re: eBay pics - actually I’m inclined to agree with what you guys say, the biggest argument I’d make for getting in touch with sellers is that you can, as has been stated, get hold of better quality images, also images that don’t have the eBay watermark.
Also, one of the great things about the Internet is that people who own cool stuff generally like to display it online - I’ve seen recently an instance where Neil has bought some stuff from an eBay seller with whom he’s built up a rapport, and this seller has donated some images to our Toy Section from his own personal collection! So, that for me is another argument in favour of contacting eBay sellers - however, I do agree that it’s not entirely necessary to ask for the permission for eBay pics!
