So…I’m totally rehashing some old stuff, but I’ve been living and breathing Thundercats at least continuously for a few weeks now…when something odd just occurred to me;
In CN’s first debut of the new Thundercats (the trailer without any voices…ie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrBmWKAyPk8 ), there is a closeup of what I’ve always assumed was Lion-O five seconds in, except it totally can’t be Lion-O at all because this character has red eyes (not to mention blonde hair!), and Lion-O’s are blue. It can’t be Cheetara either, because you don’t see her face markings…
If you notice the lower eyelid eyelashes, it’s clearly female.
In most animes, only female characters have lower eyelid eyelashes. Male characters rarely do, usually they are drawn as a comedy gag/joke that is usually temporary. Even in yaoi, they still don’t draw lower eyelid eyelashes; that is also how you can tell the gender of a character is, even if dressed as a female.
I took it to be Cheetara. The facial markings are the same (just slightly different color because of the lighting), eye color is the same, and there’s blond bangs hanging over the eyes.
One thing I do love about the new Cheetara is she doesn’t have the obnoxious red lipstick like the old Cheetara has.
Personally, I like the new Cheetara much better. It’s just that I have to get used to the new eye markings, they don’t trail down like the old Cheetara did. However, I do like what I see.
Or the horrible blue eye shadow in some scenes and not in others right? The red lipstick and blue just never did it for me. Could never picture her waking up in the morning and slabbing that stuff on…
Hah, and when I first saw the trailer I gave a squee at that part because it looks like my Albino OC XD dork
Are you looking at the same picture I am? Directly around the eyes is a brownish color, then a lighter color where the nose would be, and then another brownish color surrounding where the other eye would be. Except for the actual colors (and the color change would be because she’s hiding in the shadows) It’s exactly like Cheetara.
You have red eyes and everything else is white in that image. If that was Cheetara, not only would the eyes be red, but the hair would be blond and the color around her eyes orange.
as for the colors…you thought the dude with the sword was Panthro and you’re worried about colors here? lol I believe that’s just because she’s hiding in shadows. But anyway We’ll see Friday.
That kinda makes me wonder if they’ll be like real cat’s eyes and reflect light in the dark. Might be an interesting detail if they do. See a Thundercat in the dark, they turn their head and the light hits their eyes in just the right way and they glow for a fraction of a second.
Look, it’s Cheetara. This shot is just artistic creativity at it’s best. I could give lessons on French Impressionism painting from the late 1800’s…using different shades of light to paint the same object.
16 years ago I was an art major in college, I know what I’m talking about.
That be cool if they did the reflective thing, then again that scares the heck outta me when one of my two idiots is just standing in my room at night looking at me while I sleep and juuust enough light gets on them to get Cats Powered by Demon’s eyes…
