Does the new cartoon have an official web site? I google searched and couldn’t find one. I looked at Cartoon Network’s web site and couldn’t find anything about the new show. It seems like every tv show has its own official web site.
CN shows really don’t tend to have their own official sites. They usually just have a page or two on the CN website. You probably won’t see it til the show launches.
I’ve heard that there’s supposed to be an official site for Thundercats. Not sure when it will debut.
CN webstie. And don’t expect anything fancy, most likely silly games, and brief, basic information on the show (and maybe the characters). =/
Oh, I was under the impression it was going to have its own domain and be kinda like, for example, the official voltron page. But I could be wrong.
Would be kinda cool to see some Tcats characters in Fusion Fall. lol
That would actually be awesome. Even if I don’t play Fusion Fall anymore. It’d be interesting to see how they incorporate the mythos and characters for worlds, levels and items.
I actually find the case of the Voltron website surprising. I don’t know of any other franchise who’s official site hosts such an open forum. The CN forums are so highly moderated, they’re shallow and no real discussion can be pulled from them.
It’s just constant “Who’s you favourite [insert whatever here]?” and “Who/What do you think?” threads, with horrible grammar and no real thought behind the posts.
Considering how horrible the CN website is, I’d rather they leave the comprehensive show databasing and communities to the fans. Fansites tend to be much better than official websites anyways. This one is a great example of that, reason why I actually want to post here.
If we do get an official website, I don’t think it’ll be that much different from what the most likely CN.com spot will be.
And 'sides, aren’t the people pretty much running the Voltron.com forum fans anyways?
I’m sure it will launch @ the same time the show debuts.
Kameinu - yeah I agree…whether Thundercats gets a stand-alone official a la Voltron franchise or a sub-section of the CN site I don’t see it as a threat or danger to fan sites. There’s always a place for those. Even the Voltron official site does not go into depth or cater to niches like fan sites do, and heck, those guys running it frequently ask US for details on stuff, or where to find a good guide to this or that. They also like to involve us in promo stuff and try to work with the fan site webmasters, which is cool - we all want the same thing afterall…for the franchise we love to be a success.
I’m only involved in two old toon fandoms, really - this one and Voltron - so I’m not sure how it goes in other fandoms. But what I would like to see from an official Thundercats site is a central place to get updated info, exclusive news & interviews, and a merchandise store with special deals like the voltron site has. Right now, the Thundercats people are kinda working with the fan sites but I don’t know about others but I get some press releases/updates but not others. So it seems like info is all over the place right now, and sometimes sources are in doubt. I’m talking about all the years leading up to this, where rumor after rumor of a new show or movie would go around, or different ep lists for the old show were passed around and nobody “official” to back it up. An official accessible source is nice for that stuff, so that’s what I’d like to see from an official site.
As for the Voltron board, yeah fans pretty much moderate it which is probably why it’s not so stifling. The guys running the site though are pretty cool and laid back, and pop in from time to time as well so that helps I’m sure. They really embrace and encourage fans and fandom stuff, and don’t see our sites etc as a threat to them either…a very work-together for the sake of the franchise atmosphere in Voltron fandom. So hopefully if we DO get an official page in whatever capacity in Thundercats, it’ll be mutually beneficial.
I was very much not impressed with the Cartoon Network web site. But then again, I’ve never been impressed with the Cartoon Network. Only time I’ve ever really watched that channel was years ago when they aired episodes of ThunderCats and SilverHawks. They kept having this little blurb in commercial breaks with Bengali saying, “He kept babbling about masks and books and a child! And what are the hills of Elfshima?” I kinda got tired of that quote.
Wait. Silverhawks aired there? Darn, to think I actually had a chance to watch that growing up, and missed it.
Well, Cartoon Network was at it’s best around the time Thundercats aired. It’s pretty horrible now. So I don’t think many older fans will be pleased it’ll air there. 
Purrsia- Nah, fansites shall never be threatened! Lol. Which like you said, they’ll always have their place. 
I was just mentioning how they tend to be more informative and efficient than official sites.
That’s awesome, Voltron and Thundercats are the only older toons I actually follow to. Guess that adds to why I’ve seen you at the Voltron.com forums. But since I grew up with them thanks to Toonami, I’ve also ventured into other fandoms presented by it. And my expiriences with their official websites, well they aren’t short of horrible. One really has to dig around the internet to find official news and info.
Who knows, there may be a chance. But Cartoon Network really isn’t encouraging.
I saw them both on Cartoon Network within the past decade. When the show originally aired back when I was a kid in the 80’s, I had never even heard of Cartoon Network.
