Anyone else been following this years Toy Fair coverage?
We can scratch off big names like Mattel, Hasbro, Jakks Pacific and Playmates as well as a slew of smaller companies like DC Direct, Toynami, NECA and Mezco.
Not looking good for new Thundercats this year.
But it’s not over yet and maybe a new comer like Zizzle toys will surprise us. Their Pirates of the Caribbean figures are looking pretty nice.
Once again it seems like us Thundercats fans have been forgotten when it comes to toys. If there’s nothing this time around isnt there also ToyCon where there is a slight probability that there will be something. I think though if nothing comes out this time around my best bet is that IF there is a cartoon toy companies will wait till that airs and then worry about a toy line sometime next year. It doesnt make any sense to release or even show a toy line before the cartoon airs
When Hasbro announces a new line for Transformers or GI Joe, it’s usually announced and shown at the International Toy Fair. It’s been like that for the past three years. The announcement usually includes the unveililng of both the action figure line as well as a brief glimpse of the show that will accompany the line.
The only time I can recall having a company not announce a toyline at Toy Fair would be the recent Masters of the Universe line. Mattel did an unveiling at the San Diego Comic Convention July of that year…and then released and aired both the toyline and cartoon the following year.
I still believe that we will be getting some sort of ThunderCats related product this year. I’m not saying either way whether I know something or not, but we’ll always have skeptics and until an official announcement is made, all we’ll have are rumors to go by.
Don’t be disappointed if nothing is announced at Toy Fair, but don’t give up all hope for something new either.
If there are in fact no new toys announced..why would Jayc from Toynewsi.com be posting that “hooo!” on the front page some time ago. He seems to be hinting that good things are in store but we have to wait it out. I guess he could just be refering to the possibility of a new series but I’m still really puzzled about this whole thing. Don’t know whether I should get my hopes up or not.
Here’s hoping for some answers soon.
At best, they got overzealous with the usual barrage of Thundercats rumors that inevitably show up every year before Toy Fair and interpreted it as “insider information.”
At worst, they were just screwing with people so they could have a “hot” headline and generate a lot of interest in their site.
It makes no sense to post an article with nothing but question marks. That isn’t news. That’s screwing with the Thundercats fan base. I sincerely doubted there would be Thundercats toys at Toy Fair and I would be equally surprised if anything shows up at comic con this year. Again it makes no sense to tease people with question marks if nothing can be mentioned until at least late summer or fall.
Call me jaded. But I’ve been through this just one too many Toy Fairs. There have been rumors of new Thundercats for a good ten years as well as usual “I know something you don’t know” people claiming some sort “insider information” that always follows it. Which of course never pans out.
If we get anything this year (and I would be shocked if we do) I doubt it would be anything remotely toy or action figure wise. Probably nothing more than statues from DC direct.
The only thing that was posted on the net before Toyfair was the news post over at TNI. That only had the logo and Hoooooooooo!!! The fact is that even if there is a new toy line it is still pretty early in the process. The rumble about a new show this fall would still put a toy line a few months away from making a big announcement. There is still the San Diego Comic-Con to make any announcements and show prototypes.
