I just came back a few hours ago after spending more than 24 hours to get my hands on the Nintendo Wii and I must say this system is awesome. I got to my local Walmart at 7 AM yesterday for the midnight launch and after getting one at midnight headed to my local Target and got yet another Wii. Came back home and the system is just awesome, the interaction is pure genious.

No PS3 but 2 Wii’s. Im happy though as i only intended to get the PS3 to resell :mischievous: Zelda is insane and Wii Sports is so much fun…my wife beat me so many times in bowling but i beat her in boxing hehe. Its a decent workout

Virtually Every New Wii and Nintendo DS System Sold Out Across America
REDMOND, Wash., Jan. 11, 2007 – There has never been anything like it. Independent U.S. sales figures released by the NPD Group today confirmed a red-hot launch for the new Wii™ system by Nintendo, and the crowning of the portable Nintendo DS™ as the best-selling video game device of any type for both the holidays and all of 2006.
Along with stunning success for The Legend of Zelda®: Twilight Princess and historic sales of accessories, including more than 1.5 million extra controllers for Wii alone, Nintendo recorded the most successful across-the-board holiday performance in U.S. video game history.
Among key results:[ul]
[li]Consumers purchased every Wii console available at retail—more than a million in just the 44 days between U.S. launch and year end.[/li][li]With sales of another 1.6 million systems in December alone, Nintendo DS achieved full year sell-through of 5.3 million.[/li][li]The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was purchased by an extraordinary 86 percent of Wii buyers, or more than 900,000 games for that system alone. Nintendo’s days are looking brighter and brighter each day. I think people have come to realize that you can have the best graphics but if gameplay is not there then video games is just not really much fun anymore
I recently bought a beautiful Professional series Panasonic TV (TH42PH9UK)… love my Plasma widescreen!
I was going to buy a 360 and the HD DVD player unit so that I could start watching proper High def DVDs in true style. When I found out that the 360 doesn’t have HDMI cable output (even in the $200 player) I decided to wait it out. I never seriously considered buying a PS3, not after reading about the delays, the problems and the lack of games coming through. I’ve also been kind of turned off by Xbox and PS2 in that I am almost 30 and have a hard time playing many of the new games. They’re just HARD and not much FUN.
On my brother’s advice I decided to get a Nintendo Wii. I love games that you can just PLAY, and the way he described the remote control and gameplay, well it sounded like fun.
I paid a little extra to get a Wii off of ebay and I found a store who has stock of an extra wii-mote (actully the wiiplay) and a nunchuk. I’m picking it all up on Friday and my bro and I have set all of Sat afternoon aside to just play our guts out. I am encouraged by the success of the system and I’ve enjoyed reading stories about people smashing their homes up from wiimotes flying out of their hands.
I’m glad that someone put the playability back in games, I look forward to discovering how good this system is.
Mark you just dont know how much fun the Wii is. Not only that but you will get a workout out of Wii Sports. You can also download the old school games like the original Zelda,mario Bros. and many others.
Very cool, I’ll be taking full advantage of this system, should be a great way to unwind after hard days at work.
What games have people bought, and what do they think of them?
i havn’t got one but have played on my cousins and its very good, right now i am only interested in ps3 for the simple reason it will offer me Resident Evil 5, MGS4 and final fantasy but ill wait and see since i wont be buying a ps3 on the official release date.
So if the WII can offer something in the meantime i might get one.
I would wait if I was you since there could be a chance that RE 5 and MGS4 may be multi platform games.
@Mark- I would suggest you get Zelda and if you can get Raving Rabbids that would definitely give you tons of fun. Ive heard nothing but good things from Raving Rabbids.
K cool I’ll look into those games… should be fun… I think I’ll rent a few first and decide which ones I want to buy.
You get three games with the wii play remote pack too so I’ll have a few things to try. Really jazzed about this.

Thanks for the info i did here that about RE5 and the Wii’s controls to be used different for the controlling system but thanks for the heads up and if its true the Ps3 might get snubbed lol.
Wii Play comes with at least 5 games (if I remember correctly its 8, but not 100% sure), plus you get Wii Sports packed with the Wii, so essentially you’ll get 10+ mini games to play with friends and family. 
RE5 and MGS4 aren’t coming to the Wii. There is however, a new Resident Evil game coming called Umbrella Chronicles. RE5 and MGS4 are just too graphic intensive for the Wii to cope with. Regardless, there are a lot of great games for the Wii to warrant a purchase.

Got it today, all I can say is WOW!
All my life my parents tolerated my brother and I playing video games in the living room, interrupting their TV time and basically annoying the crap out of them.
Tonight my Mom was right in there playing bowling and beating us all at golf, having a grand old time tearing it up with her husband and sons.
wiiplay is not nearly as fun as the wii sports, but we had some laughs playing the fishing game together.
I played for 3 hours straight with the family, it is SOOOOOOOOOO cool. Best system ever.
LOL. Yeah, my parents are too embarassed to play, but my uncle who is 50+ years old is having a grand ol’ time playing Wii Sports, more specifically golf. He actually got his own Wii for his birthday (his daughters bought it for him).
If you want to have even MORE fun Mark, I highly recommend Wario Ware Smooth Moves. Instead of mini games, they are micro games and it is very addicting and FUN. Even just as a rental.
Thanks for the tip on Wario Wares, I wanted to rent it today but it was out at blockbuster. Rented Zelda and Red Steel instead, and while they’re kinda cool, they’re not my kind of games.
I’m enjoying getting better at the Wii sports games and am excited for what other games will be released soon.
It kinda sucks that the gamecube games can’t be played with the wii remote or classic remote. This means I have to buy some damned gamecube remotes which is annoying.
The bowling training is damn fun too… I want to find find a bowling alley that lets you try to hit 91 pins at the same time… hilarious!
Back from my long weekend and I must say that after buying Wario Ware: Smooth Moves I have come to realize that it is one of the funniest games I have played. The micro games are addicting and keep you coming back for more
Do not buy Pokemon Battle Revolution unless you have the DS games…and do not buy it for $49.99…otherwise, you’ll be regretting it like I do.
