Hello. I’ll call myself MoatMonster.
I am new to the site. I admit I all but forgot about the thundercats until recently. I got tired of watching the barbie videos all the time with my two girls, 8 and 5 yrs. I got some nostalgic videos like ‘Clash of the Titans’ and watched them with the kids. They really, really liked it! I thought I might find some other things I was interested in from my youth on video and was surprised to find the thundercats on DVD this past spring. The girls and I have watched the whole box set this summer, mostly in the backyard tent! It has been so much fun watching them get excited. They mimic mumm-ra when referring to charlie, our dog, as their “malevolent mutt” or “putrid poodle” as if he were ma-mutt. I built the girls a tree-house this summer and guess what we called it? Yep, “Cat’s Lair!” I like the values of Truth, Justice, Honor, and Loyalty. The idea of collaboration is also appealing. It reminds me a bit of what was appealing to me about the superfriends cartoons. Cheetarah and Mandora are my oldest’s favorites and Wilykit is my youngest’s. Anyway I thought I might find some old figures on ebay. WOAH! I had no idea this stuff was available let alone popular! Much to my wife’s chagrin, I have been collecting everything thundercats for the last 4 months! I had never bought anything on ebay before. And I had never collected anything before but a few baseball cards as a kid as a brief fad.
I am not ready to take the plunge and work on a MOC collection, but I’m sure it will happen at some point.
I hope my wife never finds out how much I’ve spent on this stuff! The kids like playing with the loose figures and I’ll admit I occasionally will turn the lights down so I can make the sword of omens light up in my hands! I’m not interested in selling the stuff. I just like having it.
We didn’t have much money growing up and I have the money now and work all the time so I guess I think I deserve it! Anyway, I’m glad to join this community.
