New 6" Classic toy line from Mattel!

Yeah, I know. Wishful thinking though. It’d be sweet if Lion-O is taller. Up to know, I’m still hoping they’d release a King Grayskull (and Battle Lion) that scale to his size in the 200X cartoons which is taller/bigger than everybody else.

I was listening to the interview with Pixel Dan and the guy for Marty Collector said they want to spread out the main characters to keep fans interested in the line:

I’m thinking of this lineup (6 figures per year)

Lion-o/Jackalman
Rataro/Hachiman
Pumyra/Chilla

Is it 6 per year? The first two, Lion-O and Jackalman, are coming out in July and August respectively. To me, that sounds one per month.

This is supposed to be a ‘mini sub’ but that doesn’t mean its going to be 6 per year. It could be a full sub in 2017 if the first wave of 6 does well enough, I imagine. That is, I’m sure, what they’re hoping for.

I believe you are correct Sandrock, Mattycollector needs a new anchor. MOTUC has played itself out. They are offering minisubs for it, and announced an enormous Snake Mountain is coming. But they need fresh blood and I’m sure they want Thundercats will be it. But since we are a smaller or perhaps less vocal community, they are testing the waters first.
I sent a PM on their forum to Catra suggesting that if they want to spread out the core characters or teams, they should include a never before in figure form character. My suggestion was Mandora, leaving the oppertunity for her bike later.
But really anything new would work.

So am I.

I’m going to get a couple MOTUC figures of my favourite characters and characters I used to have the original toys of, to display with the Thundercats.

Yes !

That’s the way Matty conduct their lines…

Remember MOTUC were supposed to be only 8 figures (+ King Grayskull)…

Matty gives an update about the subscription.

Thundercats
" They’re going to be awesome. Period.

The enrollment period for this particular subscription won’t be until early 2016, and the first figure (Lion-O) won’t ship until July 2016. The full lineup will be revealed and yes, you will be pleased :). There will be a good mix of heroes, villains and allies…seriously I think you’re going to love it. "

And this is seriously good to hear.
By saying that the sub won’t open until early 2016 that tells me they are fully prepared to fulfill the subs they get regardless of how many they receive. More is better, so sub, get your brother to sub…etc…

Good mix = two Thundercats, maybe three at most during the first wave. And again, at least one that has not been a figure before. ( to motivate fence sitters and show that this is gonna be good.) IMHO

It really upsets me as a UK collector that aquiring these is going to be such a ball ache …

Im totally on board and will buy every figure no matter the cost. And believe me I really do want to subscribe more than anything …

But it’s all very confusing when I try and read over the jargon. All I bloody want is to simply buy the damn figures ffs …

Come on Mattel … I really am over the moon and I’m not meaning to sound ungrateful which is how it may come off.

But surely they could make a whole lot more money if they just made it simple for those of us who don’t happen to live in the USA to purchase a sodding figure lol

I don’t want to miss out on a single figure so I will most definitely subscribe when I get my head round this stupidly complex subscription bull crap …

But surely they could make the whole thing a lot simpler and offer a more economical service for the rest of the world ..

Spoilt fan boy rant over …

Mattel’s delivery service is called Digital River…

I don’t know if you collect MOTUC too but I can confirm DR was a bad service until 3 years ago…
I live in Brazil and now my figures have been coming easely…

This is from the Q&A From Mattel on he-man.org:

Ive been reading all the threads and postings, its clear we thundercats fans have so many expectations…about which characters, our personal fav that was never ljn produced…large playsets…making sure the faces look accurate etc…but one things is for sure, I have NO DOUBT this line is going to be awesome and epic…what thundercats fans, like myself have been waiting for over a dacade!!..I wanna subscribe to everything and purchase multiples of everything …CANT THANK MATTEL ENOUGH FOR BRINGING THIS FRANCHISE JUSTICE AND THE TREATMENT IT NEEDED AND DESERVED!!!

It’s not that complicated. You subscribe and they charge you the money for one figure plus shipping each time a figure is released in the year.

Does anyone else find it interesting that Mattel has now got the Thundercats licence now that Scott Neitlich is gone? I still say things could have gone a lot better if Mattel had got the licence back in 2010 instead of Bandai.

Yeah, actually everything started to change a little bit literally right after he left. That could only mean that he was a hindrance IMO.

Still, as much as mattycollector and company have started to exhibit a more positive outlook with future products and seem to be more professional while communicating with customers, I’m sure it’s business as usual.

Matty is still managing to annoy many MOTU fans with their shenanigans, but I hope Thundercats fans have less of a stressful time collecting this new line. All I can suggest is, think very hard and do your homework before committing to their subscription model.

He definitely made some odd decisions. I am still disgusted that he included Mighty Spector. That place could have gone to a worthwhile character people actually wanted that would have cost far less to make.

Here is a very nice interview with Treadway from Thundercats Classics Facebook page:

I just liked that new Facebook page.

I wonder if anyone would be interested in all of the ThunderCats having eyes light up features. This feature would work with each figure having a chip at the bottom of there feet along with a vehicle or playset!

Just like the 2002 He-Man figures when they walk into Castle Grayskull!
