My Tower of Omens repaint is done! Everything is painted up now. I’m really happy with the way it turned out. I took some liberties from the cartoon because the sculpt isn’t totally toon accurate either.
I got my Tower of Omens play set today and started my repaint. It’s still a work in progress as it was a total repaint. I think you see a little of the original brown here and there just as a nice tonal variation but that’s it. I need to touch up a few things and paint the red highlights on the tower along with filling in the windows. Eventually I’ll paint the vines and leaves too. I’m very pleased with the result so far, especially considering what I started with. The playset actually has some nice detail, but it’s just obscured by the face that the only paint application on the whole thing was the red of the cat’s eyes on the gate.
My main goal was to try to get it to look a bit more cartoon-accurate with a stone texture and lighter color and also to paint more of the details that are there.
I’m still trying to decide whether to glue the columns onto the main tower as they fall off very easily.
Anyway, crappy phone pics for now. Once it’s done I’ll take some nice photos with my D90.
really nice, what are you using? acrylic paint? did you do any prepping like sanding or you’re just painting? just curious, dont think i’m gonna do one but i like it!

I think I’ll try to finish painting it this weekend and I’ll post better pics. It actually didn’t take as long as I thought it might to even get this far. It was probably about two hours of work so far. I’m guessing I have another hour to go or so. What’s left is pretty detailed work so it’s kind of nerve-wracking! LOL.

No sanding or anything. I’m mostly using ModelMasters acrylic, but for the base color I used a Sand-Colored Spray Model Enamel. This was a very nice base to paint over and the paint clung right to it.
After the base sand-colored coat, I used a dark tan to do a wash on it. Then I used a sponge brush to apply some gull gray mixed with the tan to create the stone texture.
The blue was the tan mixed with some clear blue acrylic paint. For the red I’m planning to mix the tan with clear red and then the tan for the vines and a dark green for the leaves.

Excuse me for my question, iot might sound naive but i still haven’t seen all the 9 episodes so far, is there going to be a Cat’s lair or the tower of omens will be the new Lair??
