My resignation from the ThunderCats Lair team

Chris here…

Many thanks for your response, Manny - as always it’s very much appreciated.

That’s good to know, and I agree, re: the podcast I think what’s done is done and it’s now a dead issue to be set aside and moved on from. For my part, I apologise for ruffling feathers, but felt that what I said needed to be said - I’m glad to know that there’s no bad feelings between us, Manny, and am happy to move on and put this behind us if you are.

Hey Manny, thanks for your comments here. I think you make a lot of very good points.

Re: the layouts, I think why myself and (latterly) Kyle are somewhat protective of them is because during your absence from the site in the summer of 2006 we actually put a lot of work into redesigning the Cartoon Section, because there was an (albeit brief) period where we thought that Kyle would be taking over the HTML for the whole site, and then he & I ended up working together as complete co-managers of the Cartoon Section, with me in charge of the Comics. Towards the end of that process you actually returned to the team full-time (which everybody, Kyle & myself included, were really pleased about) - but, by that time, you’d had Kyle & myself as section co-managers putting in a lot of work laying stuff out the way we felt it should be.

I must admit I’m extremely proud of the way the Cartoon & Comics sections look - for me they represent many hours of wrestling with HTML, working to get it just right, such is my love for ThunderCats and for this site. So, I think that for me is why the thought of those changing is hard for me, just because a) I’m used to having complete control, and b) because I’m so proud of (and worked so hard on) what was there already.

That said, as I’ve stated before, everything I’ve seen so far I think looks really good and I’m always happy to take a look at anything with an open mind. But, hopefully my explanation above can give you an insight into why Kyle and (especially) myself have such a (for want of a better term) “vested interest” in the site redesign.

Which is what I figured, and like I said above, I didn’t think there was any sinister reason for it. But, it’s something I’d point to if any team members past or future feel they’re being “ignored” - they aren’t, it’s just that **** happens and people forget!

Cool - I’m glad to know it got to you OK, and again, I can only apologise for not having replied to it quicker!

I agree, I think this issue is finished now and we can move on. At the moment I’m assisting Nick with his interviews, which I think are a priority for this site as his Midas Touch is supplying us with some out-of-this-world content! Hopefully soon I’ll be able to feel my way back into continuing my work on other areas of the site, at least as time allows. Thank you, guys, for your indulgence!

Take care…

Im quite relieved that this is done and finished. Issues like this happen, we all make decisions that we think its in the best interest of everyone and sadly it doesnt go that way sometimes. With that being said this is a testament that shows how strong of a team we are and how easily we can move on and continue towards our goals. Everyone has done a fantastic job, however I am feeling that I have personally let down Matt because the vast content he provided us many months ago has not seen the lgiht of day.

Im sure by now you guys are tired of hearing how strapped I am with time but there is not much I can do at this time. My responsibilites with work and evrything else have vastly increased since January and for those that didnt know my wife is due in December so I will have my hands full with number two. Im glad that we have such an understanding team and the best thing is that there is always something being added to the site.

Manny, all I have to say is that you have been an OUTSTANDING leader and one thing I admire about you is that you are very humble in the way you deal with things. One day Ill be visiting a you in San Diego, we’ll hang out and drink a few beers (if you do drink). For all the UK folks, we have to set up a TCL reunion. Take care everyone
