With the NEW ding in the bubble, I don’t think this will go to AFA now…it went from a 75/80 to a 65/70 due to poor packaging…I will just order a hard case for it, and enjoy it
Now this guy on the other hand, will be getting graded!

It’s very difficult to find 8-backs with clear blister since most of them have yellowed due to time.
Judging by the pictures, your Orange hair Lion-o could easily score a solid 85(80,85,85) had it not been for the dent in the bubble.
From my experience with afa i would now grade it, an overall 80 or in the worst case scenario a 75, subgrades:(C80,Blister70 or 75, F:85) which is still a very good score given that most top graded Thundercats vintage get 80 or 85!! The Card could get an 85 too, but the Sticker is something they seriously take into consideration.
One more reason this Lion-o is rare is because he is without the catalogue,those graded with no catalogue are only two i think!

Mumm-ra is awesome, you should send it to AFA and you certainly won’t be disappointed. I strongly believe he is a genuine 85(85,85,85), one of the subgrades could also reach a 90!

Sorry for you, bad to see a MOC nicely conserved during more than 20 years and damaged recently due to a poor package from a seller not really regarding about it.
I’d make the seller refund some of the money back or claim it back via Paypal. Sending a vintage boxed item in a padded envelope is unacceptable and the seller should be made to pay for their sheer stupidity! :rolleyes:
I’m not saying to try this on such an AMAZING figure but I recently tested out using a hair dryer to heat up the bubble on some of mine I had with dents and sure enough I was able to smooth them out, worked a treat.
Still, it is very nice looking, bright colors and a flat cardback, keep in mind that the overall grade is NOT an average of the three subgrades(Card, Blister, Figure), the goal of the subgrades is to further define the condition of a particular figure..Once the grade has been assigned the grader will then assign individual grades.The overall aesthetic appeal of your Lion-o hasn’t been damaged, at least from what i can discern from the shots. Yeah, ok i can see the blister getting a 75 at best but the rest seem to be in very good condition.
i say give it a try, you won’t be so disappointed.
I can sympathize. The first Astral Moat Monster I ever bought was shipped across the Atlantic Ocean in a box that was too big and nothing to insulate it from shock except a lone piece of newspaper. Needless to say, there were white plastic shards in the box when I opened it from a shattered Astral Moat tooth.
Unfortunately I wasn’t on my game enough at that point in my life to take initiative and contact the seller in a timely manner, and so the ******* got away with it due to my laziness. Balls to me.
I guess the lesson here is that you should contact the seller and get a partial refund TODAY. Ebay and paypal will back you up. They generally always side on the side of the buyer.
