My June Woes

When i post this, it will be right in the middle of June, and for the longest time, June has always meant two things to me: Father’s Day and Summer Vacation.

I may not be able to remember the exact moment in time when this became a tradition for me, but for some time now, i’ve tried to get into the spirit of June by getting into the Summer Vacation mood. By which i mean, watching shows/movies and/or playing games that somehow related to “The Last Day of School”. This has even led to the inclusion of Graduation as well.

Problem is, just like every other time i’ve tried to get into the mood for a holiday/special occasion in recent years, my mind has made a habit of thinking of the worse possible things, and has thus distracted me from my goal. For example: at the moment, i am stuck thinking about characters from shows and movies that i like acting like idiots and sexist caricatures. Like i said, that distracts me from my initial intended mood.

And then there’s also the matter of there not being enough time to get into the Summer mood. Part of me wants to believe that i can extend this mood to include the whole month of June, but, in addition to it already being almost halfway through the month, there are also one other factor to consider: The End of the School Year and Graduation time-frame both occur during the earlier parts of June, which we are well nearing the end of (in fact, the average school year never goes past Father’s Day).

So how is that going so far?
