As a bat the sunlight would have affected him perhaps?
Or he just transformed into a bird to “run away” from them. As a bird it would be hard to find him.
He probably just turned into the first thing he could think of.
Yes, the new one lacks a certain charm of the old. First, it was his first transformation, should have been inside his lair. Second, it was over too fast. Same camera angle for the full chant. Not even a zoom of his chest emblem. But I liked the final shot.
I agree, the '85 was done better. The atmosphere felt more creepy and evil but like someone said, maybe we’ll get a better one after this.
Ye i do hope we get to see a new better one. I dont think THAT tranformation will be reused like the old one or Lion-Os swining.
I actually feel that the animators have been to put on too many restrictions concerning the style in the new series. I for one like both versions but I easily prefer the old one alot more. He had so many unique expressions & looks. I still feel there’s not a character till today that can come close to looking as deadly as the classic Mum-Ra. That being said the new series has still made a remarkably good update with his transformed form. Love the face especially!
But man the transformation sequence sucked big time. There was no clear music defining him & the whole sequence was so stiff without any sort of shading. I’m surprised cause usually the Japanese animators put their heart & soul into stuff like this & Studio 4C has done some Awesome work. Not sure if it was storyboard decision but it sure was disappointing.
It was also kind of funnnt to see Lion-O saying Thundercats Ho! directly after Mum-Ra’s Transformation. That in itself took away alot from the scene.
I still love the series, The intro & the transformation were two topics that i was most keen on seeing but sadly none of them live up to the expectations of the classic!
To be honest, I like the new one better. Panthro thinks he can take him down easily then Mumm-Ra’s transformation answers, “you want a challenge, I’ll show you a challenge.” It also helps that we had to wait until this episode to see it.
