WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OF HER SHOWING UP IN THE SHOW…MAYBE UNDER MUMM-RAS SPELL A FEW EPISODES? JUST A THOUGHT:thumbsup:
Please no Mumm-Rana.. she was so She-Ra to He-Man (that 80’s thing for developing a female counterpart for every male character, or vice-versa- was too much for me. IMO, Mumm-Rana should have never existed).
While I liked the concept of Mumm-Rana in general, she was poorly executed in the OS. I thought it would have been a neat idea to have had her been created by the ASOG in response to the ASOE creating Mumm-Ra (kind of like an arms race; like how after we developed the atomic bomb, the other countries figured they needed to have one, too).
Personally, I don’t see how or where she could fit into the new show. So far, this new Mumm-Ra’s powers seem to be derived from extremely advanced science with the connections to the ASOE downplayed. So this would seemingly negate her purpose for being the equivalent for the ASOG. Also, she was never very popular with fans, so that’s another reason why I don’t think we’ll see her. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing new versions of other characters like Hachiman, Mandora, the Warrior Maidens, and even the Berbils, Safari Joe and Captain Shiner before we see Mumm-Rana.
Sums up my feelings on Mumm-Rana.
While they have not focused on Mumm-Ra’s connection to the ASOE in this series so far he still had to invoke them to transform in the pilot. So they are obviously still the main source of his evil powers. All while also being augmented by a techno army. Mumm-Ra is a menacing adversary to the TCs to be sure.
The basic concept of her could be worked into the show. Maybe a woman from Mumm-Ra’s time that was a powerful sorceress from whom Mumm-Ra learned his trade from and she was part of how he was sealed away.
Other than that, or something similar that still remains as vague.
Also, that name would have to go.
I’d be curious to see Mumm-Rana redesigned in the style of the new series, but I’m not sure I actually want to see her show up as a recurring character.
I think that the biggest failure with Mumm-Rana in TOS was that she was too laid back in fighting evil considering her good nature.
If she comes back again I’d like to see her as a Chaotic Neutral (D&D-lingo) insanely powerful sorceress mummy that goes beyond good and evil (hence why she does not appear in every episode).
If either the good guys or the evil guys were to step over some boundary in her domain she could interfere with force.
While she might not care for good vs evil, she could prove an asset or an obstacle for either side depending on whether they act to further her own goals.
Something like Zodak in MOTU… that might work well.
i think it would be good to bring back most if not all of TC characters at some point so that this show can live on just like the 80’s show did and still does!

Who the hell is Mumm-Rana??
I wouldn’t bring back all the characters from the old show, but I’m sure a place could be found for most of them. I like this idea, even if they kept the old name. Some kind of mention of the sorceress he learned his magic/technology from before betraying her.
There were 2 major issues I had with her. She was a lot weaker than Mumm-ra and didn’t have much of a presence in the show. The second might seem a bit petty but I believe that I think the animators could have made her more beautiful than she was in the OS.
Her first appearance bugged me a lot more than her second. Mumm-Ra shouldn’t have been able to best a character that’s essentially his counterpart so easily. Also, someone with a direct line to the good equivalent of the ASOE should’ve realized that the Mutants were evil right away. You’d think they’d have warned her.
I kinda like the Mumm-Rana’s Belt episode, but admittedly, it’s mostly because of the whole Queen Luna backstory in it.
Threads like this make me realize how little I do know of the old TC series. I do believe it is time to seek out and watch from start to finish the legacy series to bring myself up to speed.
One way that I’m thinking they could re-introduce Mumm-Rana is make her of the same race as Mumm-Ra, with him being a renegade member and her being the one assigned to track him down.
There’s sort of precedent for this idea. In the original Battlestar Galactica, there was a two-part episode called “War of the Gods” that featured a character called Count Iblis. He appeared to the fleet, working miracles and earning their trust, and even promising he could lead them to Earth. At the same time he appeared, there was also “Ship of Lights” that was abducting Viper pilots and sending orbs of light that buzzed the fleet in search of Iblis.
Eventually it was revealed that Iblis wasn’t all that he appeared to be, and that he was a malevolent being (possibly a biblical demon or even the Devil himself). The Ship of Lights that was pursuing him belonged to a race of angelic beings called Seraphs who stated Iblis was a member of their race gone rogue, and they had been trying to bring him to justice. They explain their abduction of the pilots was their way of protecting them from him, and they were returned once Iblis was gone.
All of this of course tied in to series creator Glen Larson’s own Mormon beliefs, but it was still a cool concept (and one of many things I missed in the new BSG). And it would be kind of cool if something like this turned up in the new TCats in relation to Mumm-Ra and Mumm-Rana.

I guess then you’re new to the fandom? I remember there was someone from way back who also went by the name of WileyKit, and I had wondered if maybe you were her (one of the things I remember the most about her was that she had frizzy red hair she complained about and was always trying to straighten).
