More UK adverts for possible Toy Section inclusion! Commercials

Hi guys,

This is directed mainly at MannyC and particularly Neil - I was sorting out some stuff to do with my UK ThunderCats comic collection today and finally looked out some adverts that I thought you might like to include in the Toy Section! :slight_smile: If you check out this article here:

…you’ll see two comic-strip style promos for the UK ThunderCats fan club, run by Rainbow Toys. Well, there were actually two more ads published for the fan club, which continue on from those two - one of the most significant things about this is that the error that you & I, Neil, both spotted is in fact not an error at all - it really was supposed to spell “Saphile Crystal”! :smiley:

Now, I couldn’t figure out the best place to put these and so I did something slightly naughty which was to drop them straight into Neil’s staff folder! :oops: I hope that you don’t mind, Neil my friend - I can move them someplace else if you prefer. I saw you had a folder marked “Chris scans” and so I created a new folder, entitled “New toy ads” within that:

Anyways, just thought you guys might like to have these - for myself personally I find the Thunder Warriors (UK fan club) stuff especially cool, they bring back a lot of great memories! :slight_smile:

Well, these certainly generated an enthusiastic response, LOL! :wink: I’m assuming from that that no one is interested in hosting these scans in the Toy Section, but I’ll leave them located where they are to leave you guys the option of using them if you want… :slight_smile:

Also, browsing YouTube I discovered a video of a promotional offer for TCats figures in the US, I have no idea if it is of interest but again thought I’d post it up just in case! :slight_smile:

I think these would be excelent for the toys section. Perhaps in the toy adverts section :wink: I think they shouldnt be too hard to add to the existing page though. At this time i am loaded with tons of stuff…school, work, home, etc etc so perhaps Neil could add those when he gets a spare tme.

I loved the commercials and I would say it would make a perfect addition to the clips we currently have. Two thumbs up Chris!!!

Thanks MannyC - for myself I’d love to see this stuff added if you guys in charge of the Toy Section were happy with their inclusion, so hopefully they’ll be able to make it into the section! :slight_smile: For the YouTube clip, someone with a YouTube account would need to contact the person who uploaded the video - I believe Neil has a YouTube account as I seem to think that this site had its own, so perhaps he’d be able to do the honours there? :slight_smile:

EDIT: Those clips you just sourced are awesome, MannyC, they certainly put the one I found well and truly in the shade! Again, those would be amazing to add to this site if the owners were able to grant us permission! :slight_smile:

I have figured out how to save youtube videos so that the source is unknown. YouTube is free for all when it comes to downloading clips so there is really no need to ask for owner permission.
I have converted the videos to WMV and can be added when possible. They are currently located here:

I’m sorry for not replying Chris. Those scans are great and it would be cool to have them on the site. Sadly I don’t have much time right now for site stuff, so unfortunately they will have to wait unless someone else can put them up?

I might have more time myself in January :wink:

Nice one, MannyC! I defer to your judgement re: getting the permission of the owner, with the one YouTube video located in the Cartoon Section I did go to the trouble of doing that just because I find it tends to pay dividends - the number of times I’ve asked someone whether I can have permission to use their scan or something and they’ve said “Sure! In fact, I have some more I haven’t uploaded yet, you guys have them instead!” :smiley: But, nonetheless if you think it’s OK to host those videos, that’s good enough for me! :slight_smile:

No worries, Neil, I know what it’s like - you’ve seen how often (or not) I’m on Skype/MSN lately I’m sure you must think I’m dead! :wink: I’m so busy and (mildly) stressed out with so many projects at the moment, including working on stuff I should have completed for this site months if not years ago. As I speak I’ve just got back from yet another evening out and this week’s calendar is even more of a nightmare! So, I can definitely sympathise! :wink:

In terms of adding the scans to the site - even though my HTML isn’t that hot I’d be happy to have a go, however I think that you’re probably the best person simply because you know exactly where you would want it. I’m sure they can wait till January if that’s what’s needed, and I actually think there are probably more urgent things that need doing on the site, so, no worries! :slight_smile:

Guys, do we have this commercial hosted on this site? I don’t recall ever seeing it before - it focusses on some of the later figures such as Ratar-O and Hachiman, amongst others, and once again its narrated by Victor Caroli! :slight_smile:
