More art to update the Original Comic Art Gallery (a.k.a. "The Return of Wolverine Lion-O")! :)

Hi all,

Apologies if this message doesn’t make much sense - I’m not long back from an evening out and am absolutely knackered, to the point where I can barely string a sentence together intelligibly! (Or as close as I ever get to it! ;))

However - I wanted to share some amazing news with you all! As well as the outstanding material recently donated to us by the artist Martin Griffiths, and as well as Mark’s excellent commission piece and MannyC’s additional pieces of DVD artwork, Martin Griffiths’ artwork donations have buoyed me up to get back on the trail of more comic artwork to add to our gallery, and to this end I’ve been in touch with some more original comic art collectors who have very kindly agreed to share their collections with us!

One of the things I’ve been most pleased about has been the positive comments I’ve received from these folks about the layout and presentation of our Original Comic Art Gallery - I wanted it to be presented in a way that really acknowledged both the art team on each piece and the collector whose collection the piece was from, and this really seems to have struck a chord with these folks I’ve been speaking with, all of whom have been effusive in their praise and eagerness for their material to be included!

Dan O’Connell’s collection: http://www.thundercatslair.org/staff/Comic%20Section/WIP/Chris/Special%20Features/Dan%20O’Connell%20original%20comic%20art/ (loads of lovely Dogs of War pages!)
Ray Blanco’s collection: http://www.thundercatslair.org/staff/Comic%20Section/WIP/Chris/Special%20Features/Ray%20Blanco%20original%20comic%20art/
Kat G’s collection: http://www.thundercatslair.org/staff/Comic%20Section/WIP/Chris/Special%20Features/Kat%20G%20original%20comic%20art/ (just one piece, but it’s the first I’ve ever seen from Marvel US’s TCats #24!)

…and, also added to our gallery from the collection of Michael Khazen, a collector who has donated to us before, a two-page pin-up used in the ThunderCats Sourcebook, drawn by legendary comics artist (who I know from his work on X-Men) Jim Lee - check this baby out!!

Note as well how, as with the Jim Lee piece we already have featured on this site, this piece again shows a heavy Wolverine influence in Jim’s drawing of Lion-O!

I’ll integrate these into proper gallery pages over the next few days - however, I just wanted to give you guys a look at these in the meantime. With the pieces we already have, plus these, that means that the next update to the Original Comic Art Gallery will showcase 35 new pieces - not too shabby!

Take care…

Chris here…

Yet another double-post from me, which is becoming a bad and hypocritical habit - however, just to update you guys that I’ve heard back from another couple of collectors who have donated scans to our Original Comic Art Gallery!

Daniel Best’s collection: http://www.thundercatslair.org/staff/Comic%20Section/WIP/Chris/Special%20Features/Daniel%20Best%20original%20comic%20art/ (this guy has told me he’ll look and see if he has more!)
Sean Hartman-Scarlatti’s collection: http://www.thundercatslair.org/staff/Comic%20Section/WIP/Chris/Special%20Features/Sean%20Hartman-Scarlatti%20original%20comic%20art/ (just the one piece but it’s a beauty!)

38 new pieces in total! Off the top of my head I’m not certain what this will bring the total number of pieces in our gallery to, but I’m thinking it’s somewhere in the region of 150, which I’m sure you guys will agree is awesome!

EDIT: In fact, the new total will be 151 - so, my guess was close…

Take care…

Chris there is an awesome piece of T-Cat comic art up on ebay at the moment. Check it out:

AWESOME stuff… thats all I need to say about it

Chris here…

Hey Mark, yep, that’s the piece we have up in our gallery at the moment, displayed in the top post of this thread - the seller is Michael Khazen, who donated the scan we have displayed. If I had the funds I’d buy it, but that price tag is just yikes!

Take care…
