I would think that all of the Series 2 figures would have come out originally as there have been photos of a Companion and of a Berserker. The question is, are there MOC examples of the rest of them?
Hi I can confirm that 'cause living in France I got all my childhood toys on french Cosmocats packagings.
Some of the vehicles got just a french sticker on them and the figures of the 1 and 2nd wave was on Cosmocats printed cards with the rest of the vehicles.
The 3rd wave is not existing on french cards for sure.
So, the list of what is existing with french Cosmocats logo is:
Starlion / Lion-O (never seen sold with Snarf, allways coming alone)
Felibelle / Cheetara + Wilykit (I never seen her sold alone)

Tygra 2nd sclupt + Wilykat (I never seen him sold alone and never seen the young version sold in France in the 80’)

I think than the others 8_back french cards got a similar back.

Now i noticed all the French cardbacks have the AL stamp. In 1988 LJN acquired the Italian Company AL, my Italian/LJN Lion-o has this characteristic logo too

But i don’t understand why the French Thundercats have it as well???
AND it appears some of these characters are on 8-back cards, characters that did not originally come on 8 Back cards!
In France, the toyline was distribued by “Orli Jouet” (as the Blackstar toyline by example) but strangely the Orli Jouet’s logo does not appear on the french cards, only the AL.ES/Kidworks one.
LJN did not have legal representation in France, the licence was yielded to Orli Jouet and Orli jouet was working with a little company charged to print the french packagings.

I was just thinking, you are speaking about the cards with full black backgrounds behind the characters, right? (like the 8_back US cards?).
About that I can confirm that they are not 8_back on the back (excepted for all the first wave probably like the french Mumm-Ra back) but for the second wave, they are not for sure.
ALL the french cards were coming with full black background behind each figures excepted Lion-O and Mumm-Ra + companions.

Tokyonever I have a question. Do you by any chance know what color top spinners mace is for the cosmocats figure?
Orli Jouet? i wasn’t aware of this info, thanks for sharing anyhow!! The AL.ES was strictly Italian though and it beats me why the Italian/LJN Thundercats didn’t have the Thundercats logo translated like in the ‘Cosmocats’ case!! Also the Italian figures didn’t change the names from Lion-O to, i don’t know Italian:p, to Lhiono-Oh or something like that!!!The Starlion is kind of funny!. As you correctly mentioned this must be due to LJN not having the rights to represent Thundercats in France. Whereas in the Italian cards, the LJN logo is clearly shown at the right bottom corner, exactly as in the American cards.
The molds seem to be very similar to the American and Uk versions

All the Thundercats figures sold in France were exactly the same ones sold in USA with/out any variations.
“Made in France” Thundercats figures never existed.
We recieved the figures looses and they were packaged in France directly but not manufactured in our country.
In France we changed most of the characters names and toylines names with a more “frenchies” wiring sound form.
Like for the Masters of the Universe toyline by example, the french names were added on the european packagings and He-man was called “Musclor” in our country (Snout Spout=Elephantor, Rio Blast=Rafalor…and at the other side, Rokkon and Stonedar were Ok 'cause they had indirectly a french wiring sound in their names).
A lot of European countries were not regarding to leave english names or titles on the packagings for their own markets, in France it was very important to have frenchies names on them.
“Lion-O” was too much english sounded at our ears, Starlion was a perfect french sounded name like Musclor.

About the Italian releases, LJN must have decided to run a late release of some of the most rare and precious pieces in the Thundercats market under the Italian logo, this explains why the Laser Sabers Figures along with TW Lion-o as well as the LL Mumm-ra bear the AL.ES stamp.
-However i’ve seen a TW Lion-o in an American card too
I have seen at least 2ea of the TW Lion-O and LL Mumm-Ra on american LJN cards…:eek:
We must be referring to the same two man, which appeared both on E-bay some time ago.
