Merch section ideas

I think that the merch section might be broken down into various catergories that the stuff fits into. What categories should be made (to lump certain stuff into), what categories do you want to see or dont want to see, also what stuff is of the most interest to the thundrcats community to see on this site.

thanks

The merchandise area is so vast and huge that truthfully I wouldnt know where to start. There’s things like erasers, windsocks, jiggsaw puzzles, you name it its out there.I can only think of easy categories like school supplies, games,decoration,furnishing,clothing/role playing.Im sure everyone can come up with other categories

Chris here…

I would try and do what has been done with some of the other sections, and have several main sub-sections with categories within those. So, for the main subsections, I would probably go with (not necessarily in this order):

Toys & Games - TCats toys that were produced by a company other than LJN, such as one-offs like the remote-controlled Thundertank, also maybe include stuff like TCats jigsaws, board games, etc. In this I’d probably create sub-categories like “Toys”, “Games”, “Jigsaws”, “Role-playing toys”, etc.

Clothing - TCats t-shirts, socks, underwear, you can guess the type of thing I’m sure!

Video and DVD - a section with info on the TCats home video releases from back in the day, as well as the DVDs (US, UK, France, any others?)

Collectibles, Promotional Items & Mailaways - stuff like Burger King toys, rare items, that type of thing, could possibly go in a section like this - or, it may be better to include them in a “Toys & Games” category.

Furnishing - TCats duvet covers, pillow cases, cushions, curtains, that type of thing.

Miscellaneous items - this one is a useful category to have IMO, as it is basically your “Where the heck do I put this?” category!

Those are the ones I can think of (the majority of which MannyC covered earlier) - I’m sure the others will be able to think of more!

Take care…

I think Chris’ ideas are spot on and pretty much what I had in mind. However I’d be inclined to change Video and DVD to Home Media Then we can include in that section: VHS, DVD, Computer Games and Audio Stories etc…

I think we should start listing the actual specific items now in each category. What I mean by this is the actual item itself and not simply putting something like Jigsaw (instead the actual jigsaw puzzle your thinking of) There were many jigsaws made so the best way to describe it is amount of pieces, company who made it and if that isn’t enought to define it, then also include which characters on in the puzzle

I’m gonna start a list with all the categories below we have come up with and then has folks post items to this thread, one of the admins/mods can update the list with the additions to the list folks have made.

Thanks for the ideas guys. They were along the lines of what I was thinking. I will have to get into my stuff to find out what I have and then do the writeups for them

Very cool Matt…Im not sure if you have already done so but one thing I have started doing is to save the auctions that are related to merchandise that way we can perhaps use the pictures for the section. I can do some photo editing if need be so they look professional and at the same time it doesnt look like its an Ebay pic.

so ebay pics are ok to use then? Cause Neil and I thought that they might not be. I do have a bunch of stuff I have saved from various auctions, but didnt know if we could use them

Well you see its a gray area but I do think that once modified (i.e. removing background) a picture can be used. If the pictures are to be used for profit then it would definitely be wrong, however we are only getting the pictures for “educational” purposes and they wont be by any means used for the profit of the site. That being said I think it would be safe to gather pictures from different auctions

Should the books with the casseste tapes be put in a section titled books or in with the media?
I have a lot of the things on this list and pics of things I do not
I still am compiling a list here. So please help me out with stuff I have forgoten’
Oh the stuff I listed is in red and green
Should I include things that are recent like the belt buckles, and mudflaps, shot glasses, watches, etc?

Sorry for the back to back posts. I am wondering in the list of things that we have come up with how much of it members actually have. What I mean is I cant really do to much of a writeup from ebay pics, I know the things that I have but does everyone else have stuff on the list on this page and if you do can you get me info such as the date made, who it was made by, are they part of a series, anything else related to the particular item.

I think that I will do little tags for each item. I have a bunch of pics I have to go through and use. Let me know.

My idea is to have a link with the item which can be clicked with a pic of the item and info. I would do this but I have no idea how to create internet pages I am very willing to learn.
ex. http://www.thundercatslair.org/staff/matt/Merch/BigBadge.JPG

This was made by Bluebird and is licensed by Telepix in 1986. This was made in China and was bought in Britain. This apparently is the only one in a set of one.

Something like this I want to do for all the stuff, I will do the writeups I just need the HTML done for me. Please help

Apologies for not responding to this sooner Matt!

Everything I listed, I have in my collection or some info on. Unfortunately for the FHE videos releases we are gonna have to ask around for images of the covers as I only have the Safari Joe/Jackalman’s Rebellion one in my collection.

All the UK video releases I have access to and can write up the descriptions for those.

Also an heads up that I’ve just updated my post with the items Matt added as well as (I believe) the complete FHE releases!
