I tried and failed to get a refund through my bank, so I’m gonna try to make lemons into lemonade here and say I think that all is not lost. We should at least wait until the end of SDCC happens.
Either way I have to wonder what they were thinking. If they are limited-releasing these figures, why would they shoot themselves in the foot by not mentioning this the last day of SDCC?
It’s also possible that things could change with the licensing situation, and that something isn’t set in stone yet. Hell, we could have a reveal of new figures this weekend, who knows?

In light of the response that I’ve posted above from the Mattycollector.com online rep, Perhaps y’all should email them, politely requesting a Tygra + Cheetara 2 Pack. Don’t get carried away and start asking for Grune, Jaga, Vultureman, Slithe, Deluxe Kan-Ra etc…we only need the core members, we can figure out the rest later!
I’m gonna bet there are fans of Thundercats on that team that are as upset and anxious as we are. As much as it’s hard to actually do this with the dreary news, try to be patient.
I’m pretty upset too, but it isn’t going to help any of us to get more bent out of shape about this.
I’m as confident as you are that the ThunderCats brand won’t be gone for good. I mean, the upcoming He-Man/ThunderCats comic is one way to continue said latter brand.
I would imagine that members of that team are upset/anxious about not just having toy figures, but keeping their jobs as well.
Anyway, I’ve been going back and forth on whether to buy or sell my figures. I figure I’m going to keep them. These look to be really well designed, and even if it’s a fraction of the team, the Lion-O looks to be the best representation of that character made to date (in action figure form), and the rest have never seen modern representations (all we had before was the gimpy LJN version of Panthro). I think I’ll hang on to them. Sure, it’ll be incomplete, but I’m not really a strict completist in my other toys (TFs and Joes) anyway.
Hopefully, Mattel, Super7, or someone will find a way to add a few more figs to this line.
If the line is in fact over I wonder if this will affect DOS figures. Especially on the ones that will come out towards the end of the year. I’m sure that as it became clear that Matty wasn’t going to continue they would certainly make less figures outside of the sub numbers. Meaning the figures would be even harder to get later on if the line is revived.
Hey all. Just joined to post this message. I’ve been a mattycollector subscriber for five years. Big He-Man fan, and I wanted to be a big Thundercats fan. Still do. Anyhow, on the He-Man.org homepage, they posted some prototype She-Ra dolls that could be made with a message from Garret Sander at Mattel saying:
“Yes please make noise, with there no longer being a matty collector (see matty’s facebook page )we need you all to be vocal in your want and we will do all we can to get more made!”
So maybe if we make enough (rational, polite) noise we can get something, anything going. I know it’s not as simple as that, I just know that Mattel was willing to throw fans a bone or two over the years on lines that they thought were dead. DCUC, Ghostbusters, etc. And I don’t think they’d need a mattycollector to do it. What say you all?

I’ve got glaring holes in my MOTUC collection (Teela, Zodac, Whiplash & Fisto) that I doubt I’ll ever be able to afford to fill.
Well, that’s hopeful news. Thanks for posting it. Glad to hear that Flynn’s open to the idea of continuing the line. From the early reports, I assumed he had no interest. But yeah, it must be a major pain dealing with licensing when it involves a huge media conglomerate like Warner Bros./Time-Warner, not that Mattel’s a mom-and-pop operation. Still, it must be many orders of magnitude more complicated.
I think Flynn is just saying that to please the fans. If Super 7, like Mattel, had any real interest in Thundercats they would have worked something out.
Brian’s comment are very encouraging for sure. For those that may not have seen it yet. A petition was made to show support to Mattel and S7. It couldn’t hurt to sign to show support to keep on going.
Not everything has to be a conspiracy. Mattel and S7 have been very quiet about this whole thing for months now. Negotiating a new contract with WB would likely take a long time to finalize. I know you’ve wanted this to fail from day one but let us have our hope for now.
