I’m concerned about the threat of violence… about “I have your address” towards the end of this exchange between two toy fans.
Neil could you decide on whether a banning is in order?
Can one of the forum admins let us know if that PM is for real? ie: are we able to view PMs in the system rather than take the one guys word as being true?
I have no admin powers at all. I can’t even view IP addresses. A forum regular (Neil, Mark or Chris) needs to be made an admin as we only have so much power as Super mods…
EDIT: thundercats1 banned for 2 weeks until further action is decided. I’ve banned him for calling other members (such as ‘idiot’ etc..) He is clearly goading folks which is not tolerated.
This is an important issue, so I’m hoping I can be upgraded to admin. I’m happy to contribute or even take over site hosting if need be…

I would definitely support a full ban (rather than just a 2-week one) for this guy thundercats1 because of his name-calling.
Obviously we can’t really verify whether or not he sent someone a threatening PM, but FWIW my own judgement would be that luketommo22 or whatever his username is would be on the level, he just strikes me as a decent poster. I do, however, think he’s overreacting saying he’ll never use this site again because of this incident, as surely he should be able to figure out that this site can’t be responsible for users’ individual actions, just stepping in to deal with them as needed.

I think admins can… that’s why I think one of us needs admin status (I know the Manny’s are busy with offline lives)
Well one of the two Mannys is usually available within a day or so, I’d say its a very rare situation where we would need faster attention than that.
I think the temporary step of the 2 week ban is a good step but what about the idea that both were out of line. I wonder if they should both have a temporary ban? Thoughts? If there is an actual confirmed PM where one forum member says something threatening like “I know where you live” in relation to a sour deal I feel like we need to take a long term step here.
But Neil this is your provenance and I defer to you on steps you want to take once either Manny can confirm or deny the claim of the threatening e-mail. I for one have no tolerance for any threat of violence, implied or direct.

Got this message from luketommo2. What concerns me is the “ill come down your way and chop you up… i have your address” stuff. If that message was really sent I would push for a permanent IP ban.
While I take that kind of threat as a real issue, I also think that luke was acting like a child in that thread too and I wouldn’t miss him if he decides he wants to be deleted from the boards after he learns about our decision dealing with thundercats1

I’m going to make a leap of faith and say I think thundercats1 should be banned permanently, as name-calling shouldn’t be allowed and even if he didn’t send that PM, I consider he’s stepped well over the line.
However, I agree with you that luketommo2 is reacting in a very childish way as though we are personally responsible for this guy’s actions. I’d be quite happy for that opinion to be relayed to him as well.
