MaMutt's chain rarity?

What is the rarity of the black plastic chain vs. the metal chain on mamutt? I now finally have both, the plastic one took me some time to find.

While I don’t know exact numbers or anything, I can say that in all the years I have been collecting Tcats, you almost never see the metal variation out there (eBay). So I would have to go with the metal version.

back in 2002/03 ish is when i got mine off of ebay and i dont think i paid a lot for it either. still an awesome piece regardless of the chain

I am not sure, but that looks very much like a metal change for a inexpensive piece of jewelry. My wife has some of those chains for her little odd things that she has.

If anything not hard to replace if you did not have it, or you wanted to create your own metal version.

i just bought a ma mutt with the metal chain for £6.00 , pretty cheap but im hoping its the original chain

Metal chain is real. There’s one on Ebay right now for $50 - MIP. Packaged by MacPlay - so definitely Euro. I have all 3 chained variations.

theres only 2 chain variations the metal and plastic. If your counting the red its a custom so doesnt really count.

Right. The metal chain and the two plastic ones - silver and black.

Yep the metal chain is a European variation. My original Ma-Mutt from when I was a kid came with the metal chain as Rainbow Toys released that version in the UK :wink:

I don’t think the plastic chain version was ever released over here in the UK.

Back in 2007 i bought a MOC Ma-Mutt with the plastic black chain from a local comicstore here in my country,actually it is one of the very few remaining Thundercats toys i have ever seen and found at shops for purchase here in Greece. MaMutt is in the American LJN card and given it was a sealed MOC i remember that i bought him relatively cheap,around 50 euro which amounts to 70$.

I try to figure out which companion is Ma-Mutt, Snarf or both with the different positions inside the bubble sideways or in front? I think mine was sideways.

does anybody have a pic of the gray chain? i cant seem to find one or at least differentiate the colors for sure.

I don’t know anything about a gray chain? As far as I know the only versions are the plastic black chain and the metal chain.

Ma-Mutt with silver plastic chain

Just wondering if anyone could please give me some info on this…?

I got this Ma-Mutt within a lot and it has a silver plastic chain which I have never seen before…

It’s not rare. The varian chain is a bit more difficult to find, I’ll try to post a pic of it or maybe someone else has one handy? And for the record, I don’t think Ma-Mutt came with a black chain, Panthro’s nunchucks did…

Yep, I have both the ‘black’ plastic chain and the UK ‘metal’ chain versions both MOC. I also have the ‘metal’ chain version loose too. I’ve never seen this gray chain version, so I’m interested in knowing more about it as well :slight_smile:

I have a ‘metal chain’ MOC and a ‘silver’ chain loose. I’ve never seen a black chain MOC. Whenever I saw a black chain on Ma-Mutt I always figured someone just put a Panthro or a Monkian chain on him…
