As many of you know we sold one of these years ago. It took much begging and pleading, but we managed to get the client to send this guy up. We have not even photographed him professionally yet.
This is the painted sample. Arms move, mouth does not. We cleaned up him up a bit.. he was dusty and still had some glue residue on the feet ( which leads me to believe he was used for some presentation).
There are only 3 known to exist and the sellers using Hollywood Heroes have 2 of them, they are free to ask whatever amount they want. Just because you may not want to pay that amount, it does not automatically mean the amount is “ridiculous”.
There’s no need to have a reserve on something that is obviously going to reach a high dollar amount. After all, thats what an auction is, isn’t it?
Reserves are placed to protect the client. Remember, someone originally PAID for this item years ago. The reserve is protect him from losing money… and is dictated by the client.
That one does not look to have the bubble action. It is also an aletrnate paint job since the prototype version actually has a blue neck. The one pictured above looks to have a mouth…Loojk at the original pic
Yup, this does not have the bubble action. No interior mechanics. I think the only difference in the pieces is that ours does not have the inside of the mouth painted. Other than that, they look to be the same. The “neck” on the proto figure you supplied is actually the lower half of the mouth.
This was a mock up according to my client. However, I still have not figured out what it was used for entirely.
Ah so the catalogue pic (the pic Manny posted) was a mock up image based off this prototype? Jordan did the one you sold years back include the mechanics for the bubble making feature? I’m not that bothered about the feature, but it be cool if this piece had the neck piece so it could be displayed like in the catalogue image fans have salivated over all these years!

Nobody is making you bid…To be honest, I am just grateful that this will be coming to the market at all, do you realize there are only three or four examples of this? This is not a toy, its art. Once its locked in a collection, it will probably not be seen again, just my 2c:eek:
That is pretty fancy indeed. I also noticed the bubble mechanism missing on this one when I first saw the pic. I am also curious in regards to blackiecats thought on the one that was sold earlier. Did that one have the bubble action, and if not does that mean that potentially there is one more out there possibly that does have the bubble mechanism? Jordan when you say it was already paid for years ago and the client wants to protect his investment. Does that mean that this is the one you sold years ago and the buyer from that time wants to resell it now? I’m just curious as I wanted to make sure I was understanding what you meant.

Okay, I will try and answer all questions :
Reserve has not been set yet, but this piece already has offers on it for $9K.
This IS THE ONE that was sold years ago. It did not have the internal mechanism. If you look closely at the photos on the ARCHIVE. the “bubble press mechanism” is molded in blue and the bubble ring is blue as well.
If you look at the unpainted version we have, you will notice that the “plunger” is red. This was turned to blue.
Hope this helps… we also have some extensive catalog slides and internal photographs coming to market which will offer some new insight to the figure as well.
I think its really cool to see this prototype at last its possible to see the back of the figure? I want to know if the bubbler have tail? Thank you!!!
