Happy New Year… let’s get the year off right with some more goodies. How about some original Concept Artwork and the original version of the Mad Bubbler. The concept was drastically different when they first came up with the idea. The figure was conceived with a giant bubble body and arms and legs… with a somewhat human face. It blew foam when the sides were squeezed.

Great Concept Artwork for Mad Bubbler, the long head looks kind of Alien to me:o but it’s really cool.
Hey what’s that on his side in the second photo? I don’t remember Mad Bubbler having any associates in the Cartoon series? Was it for pumping in water and foam?

I should have made myself more clear… the little guy IS THE ORIGINAL concept of the Bubbler. Thats the first version.
Oh!!! it’s good they went on for the Second one! The original hardly brings to mind the cartoon’s Mad Bubbler, on top of that he is so minute for a villain, looks even smaller than the Ma-Mutt figure
Oh my gosh…I’ve never said this about concept art drawings before,
but that actually looks MORE impressive than the actual Bubbler!!
I might have to consider getting in the running for that sketch.
Also to the point that blackiecats made in a separate post, its entirely possible the Mad Bubbler was an LJN creation which Rankin Bass decided to use in the cartoon which would explain the origin of the original prototype not matching his appearance in the show.

Which intensifies the importance of LJN in contributing not only to the Toy section but to the Cartoon’s characters and scenarios as well. Stinger was produced in order to get into the Show but unfortunately never made it. Mad Bubbler might also have been an LJN creation, like in Berserkers’ case.
the artwork is very well done i’m loving it. And that is a drastic change in concept from original to final version. The original looks like something you could get out of a cereal box
Dont be too hard on the little guy… he’s bigger than he looks. You need to remember that LJN created this character, eh he went through several different concepts. It was a simple mechanism at first, but the R&D still needed to be there. Bubbler must have gone through dozens of different concepts before the final one you see pictured on the cards and catalogs.
Take this one for example… he was considered to be more of an aquatic-looking creature. We even have one concept ( going on Ebay today) where he looks more like and Octopus.

Thanks for sharing all of these finds with us. Now that a lot of this stuff is surfacing you’re probably the right person to direct this question to.
In addidtion to Blackiecats question, there are reports that small quantities of a “ghost” Jaga figure were once produced, using the same mold as the existing figure. Do you know if there is any truth to this? Or are these figures fakes?
The ghost jaga figure is a custom figure made by thegodbeast (on these forums) not sure of his handle anywhere else. He made these roughly 3 or 4 years ago. They are pretty cool figs, but customs none the less
i seen a ghost jaga figure which limbs are held on by magnets, not a custom. the guy wanted about $400 for it so that was me out.

These are custom figures done by TGB. The limbs are held on via magnets. They’re very cool and he was asking for $150 - $200 a few years back.
I’ve been keeping an eye out, did I miss this auction?
Doesn’t look like it. I checked their history and I don’t see that item listed anywhere.

Short post… more to follow. We have started listing the over 300 pcs coming up for auction. It will take time and we ask for patience and we catalog and photograph the pieces.
