was just looking at the tmnt line. That classic line is badass. I want so bad!! Not only do they have 30 points of articulation they look exactly like the cartoon dead on spot. I want and I want now.

While I enjoyed TMNT as a kid and had a few toys, it was never something huge in my life…
But man do this figures look awesome.
Bandai better step up their game stop being so damn lazy.
The figures do indeed look cool; probably closest to their comic book depictions than ever! and the sewer playset itself is a throwback to the grand old days. They certainly don’t make 'em like that anymore!
I’ll admit, though, that I’ve kind of had a love/hate relationship with the Turtles over the years. I LOVED the original Mirage comics. Any comic back then that was cool enough to have been recommended by Metallica had to have been worth my time. (Seriously. They’re mentioned in the liner notes for “Master of Puppets.” Go look!)
But the TV show that came out in the '80s? Ugh! I don’t even want to think about that! The comic was dark, gritty and violent, and the cartoon was so…not that.
Then the first movie came out. Pretty good. They retained some elements of the cartoon (different colored headbands, surfer talk, fondness for pizza, April being a reporter), but they at least kept the dark edge of the comics, and Splinter’s origin was also lifted directly from the comics.
And then came Secret of the Ooze and Turtles in Time. Two words: Vanilla Ice. The less said, the better.
TMNT: The Next Mutation I never saw. All I needed to know was Haim Saban was involved and that was enough for me to know to stay away. The fact that Venus DeMilo failed to catch on is testament enough to how insignificant this show was.
Then came the 2003 show. MUCH better and vastly improved IMO over the '80s cartoon, as it was much closer to the original comic, although the production stumbled towards the end. Still, the first several seasons were very good.
And the TMNT CGI movie was very good too. Too bad Magi studios folded before they could do a sequel (or their Gatchaman movie, for that matter).
At this point, the Turtles mythology has become so jumbled that making a series is almost like filling out a Mad-Libs; mixing and matching from various incarnations over the years. For some examples…

[li]Simply a member of the Utroms[/li][li]The only representative of his race and the real brains behind the Foot clan[/li][/ul]From what I can figure, this new show seems to retain some of the edgier look and tone of the comics, but they’re going with Splinter’s origin from the '80s cartoon. Also, Krang is in this…though his robot body is closer to that of what the Utroms used in the comic and the '03 series. And I heard a rumor Bebop and Rocksteady are in this as well. I don’t know how that will work.
I’m apprehensive. It looks good, and Kevin Eastman is actively involved in the production so I’ve heard. But that they’re putting in elements of the '80s show which I loathed makes me somewhat doubtful that I’ll like this.
Though when I look back, no matter what incarnation of the Turtles it is, sooner or later all of them end up losing focus and going completely crazy. It’s just a question of how quickly it does it.
The classic animated and the cartoon stuff is an instant buy. It will be interesting to see how the line develops.

I’m a lifelong TMNT fan, so I have to say I’m pretty excited by all of these reveals! 
As a ThunderCats fan - yes, I definitely do think Bandai should be worried by this. From what I’ve seen of the Bandai ThunderCats toys (and yes, I freely confess, I still don’t have any!), whilst they’re good and kid-targeted, these look much better figures for hitting both the kids and the collectors… 
In 2003, MOTU fans were predicting which would win, the reboot of MOTU or the reboot of TMNT - whilst MOTU probably scored highest with adult collectors, with kids there was no contest. Sadly I think this new TMNT line will do the same thing to ThunderCats - although hopefully I’m wrong as I care so much about both properties!

I’m really looking forward to the new TMNT show more than I thought I would be. I’ve kinda hated the last few cartoons. I grew up on the 80s cartoon (never read the comics) so that, and the movies, are the Turtles I know. My ideal turtles are the movie turtles. Wisecracking, but serious when they need to be.
It seems like these are going to be a mix of the 80s turtles and the Comic turtles from what I hear. Most of the designs are great (though no idea why splinter looks like he’s wearing makeup, and I’m not fond of April’s round face). They’ve got a solid voice cast too. They said they’re going to have a lot of different mutants like the 80s show. If the stories are legit I’ll be in love.
If Bebop and Rocksteady are in it all the better! I don’t want them to be idiots though. I’d like them to be a threat. But I’ve really missed those guys.

I have to say the new series figures look awful Is Splinter a rat or a badger? :rolleyes: April looks like a teen character from a crappy Disney XD cartoon. Krang’s android body looks weird in a very bad way and the Turtles look totally off. The only ok figure is Shredder.
In comparison, the 2003 figures looked tons better. The only thing that will sell these, is if the new cartoon is really good and gets the kids hooked.
The Classics on the other hand look fantastic and I’ll definately be picking those up! Ironically I’d already been watching the 80’s series when this news was announced, as I’m in the middle of collecting the region 1 DVD’s. So the news couldn’t have come at a better time!
I’m looking forward to the show even more after reading this article.

They look bad ass! they will sell like crazy, had some figs as a kid but never was a TMNT fan, so i am not going to buy any but admittedly Playmates has done a terrific job
Gotta agree with blackiecats on this one. I don’t think they look good at all. I was never a huge fan of TMNT but still.
