Looking for a new contributing writer for the site

Hey guys, as you all know we’ve not seen or heard from Wacky Martin for a while. Manny let me know that he had a note from Martin saying that he’s needed to resign from the site to focus on real life for a while. We’ll miss our wacky pal, but now its time to start hunting down a new contributor to the site.

Could you guys suggest a short list of people that I could approach about writing for the site? We’re looking for somebody who is active in the forums, can string a sentence together and is generally likable and stuff.

Thoughts?

Sorry for not letting everyone know earlier, but Martin finally replied back to my PM and said that at the moment, he does not have time to commit to the site. So he is no longer actively working on the site. As Mark suggested, it might be best to get a new writer on board.

Again, sorry for not posting about this sooner…he sent me the message 11/29 (I sent him the PM in September or October I believe), so it wasn’t too long ago.

Chris here…

At the risk of sounding like a bit of a jerk, to be honest this comes as no surprise to me whatsoever - since the site relaunch at the end of 2006, Martin’s contribution to the site has been two articles, despite having promised a great deal of stuff to both Kyle and myself that has never materialised. Still, I can sympathise with “real life” getting in the way of a project like this, so fair play to him for acknowledging that.

Martin’s an awesome guy - and, although if I’m honest through his inacitivity he has been a source of frustration to me in the past (and doubtless to Kyle too), nonetheless he’s a terrific and talented guy, and I will miss his contribution to this site. :frowning:

I’d love to see one more dedicated writer added to the team. At the present time, if something of any great depth needs writing for the site, I’m the “go-to guy” for it - now, don’t get me wrong, I adore writing and I adore ThunderCats, so it’s not exactly a major hardship - but, these days I, like Martin, am more and more busy with “real life” stuff, and so I would love to have somebody on board who could ease my workload a little.

As for suggestions as to who could contribute - honestly, I have no idea. A lot of ThunderCats fans tend to get stuck in a very “casual” style of writing - I don’t know any other way to describe it, but it’s the sort of stuff you read all over Angie’s site, full of slang, cursing, personal opinion, etc. Our site has always had a very “official-looking” way of presenting content, which extends to the style of writing, and I think it’s important to preserve that. However, if I’m honest, that knocks out a lot of ThunderCats fans IMO. :frowning:

Take care…

I’ll offer my services. What would you want me writing, exactly, if I did do it?

Chris here…

Hey Nick, I’d say the two primary areas would be a writer/researcher for the Encyclopedia (which was Martin’s main area - you’d need to liase with Kyle about that, but I know there are many pages in need of additional text material) and also just general “points of interest” type articles, such as Martin’s “About the Voice Actors” and “About the Writers” articles.

At same point in the future I may look into palming off some of the writing for the Episode Guide too - I’ll be honest and say that if I could have it all my own way I’d like to write all of it myself, however, I’m also aware that it’s taken me 2 years to get (nearly) half way whilst there are other TCats sites with more complete (albeit much less detailed) episode guides that are getting the drop on us. I plan to feel my way through that one, but be advised that this is something else where I may be requiring assistance at some point in the future…

Take care…

Martin will be missed, I do have one thing to say that has plagued us for a while. Not bad but I think it is the reason why some areas (toy section) have gone for a while without significant updates. First is that there is a lot going on for some of us in our personal lives and secondly is that we have put so much content on the website in such a short time that we are now trying to find ways to add more significant content. There is always something to be added but in areas such as the toy section there isnt really a whole lot more that can be added.
I never thought I’d be in a position to say that I couldnt contribute anymore but right now I just cant. Im hoping in the future that can change but the near future looks very bleak as far as contribution toward the toy section. I will however work on the back end of things with forum modification and moderating when needed, I love the forums and I will always have that for of contribution. In addition when domains are about to expire and funds are need for the website you guys can count on me
