Thanks to Adam for his original contribution of the 1987 LJN catalog and for allowing me to acquire it from him.I figured many of you havent seen some of these pictures before but I will post one for all to see, I dont want to post all because it would spoil the surprise once its up after the site update. The picture shown below has most of the figures everyone has come to know except for a couple of minor things. Notice the weapon Bengali is holding, perhaps an axe was his original weapon eho knows…also notice Pumyra’s sling which is definitely not the same we’re acustomed to seeing.The rest of these awesome pages on the 1987 LJN catalog will be up on one of our updates.Perhaps the next one.Enjoy the picture below

:eyepopping: After seeing that I definately am partial to the one with the legs. Those legs make it look so much cooler it’s too bad that LJN decided to scrap them in the final stages. Thanks for the pics Manny8)
No problem Matt…I dont want to show the rest of them, want to leave some for a surpise but I do have to say that the catalog shows Red Eye, 2 Berserkers that were supposed to be released, the Thunderstrike and a brief paragraph on its battle action as well as its interactivity with the laser sabers. And of course several more pics of the Feliner.
Yeah those figs are sweet. I have seen the pics of Red eye and the Two berserkers before. The action on the Berserkers is kind of cool. I’m really interested in reading that paragraph on the Thunderstrike and more pics of the Feliner (that should have been produced as it was in a bunch of epidodes)
I believe only Cat’s Lair and the Laser Sabers. Here’s an excerpt from the catalog: "Each section is outfitted with laser cannons for interactive play with Lightning Sabers Energy Packs and Cat’s Lair. " And this as well: “As a special feature, the Lightning Thunderstrike vehicle has prerecorded messages which sound when vehicle recieves direct hits from attacking lazer beams.”

I really do hope there is an eventualy relaunch of the ThunderCats and a toy line to go with it, it would be nice to see what could be different this time around. It be cool if WB/and whoever gets rights to a toyline (if one will even exist) could do what Mattel did with He-man and do some sorta of limited re-release of like the series 1 figures for a commemortive thing.
Commemoratives would be cool…showing the original figures. Mattel is easy to messing things up though and i have a funny feeling that if they are evr to release any toys that it could be a flop like Mattel did with He-Man…Ive just heard too many horror stories with Mattel concerning he-man toys.

With Mu-Tank, I’m assuming your talking about the Mutant Attack Vehicle that comes with the Cats Lair playset? If so that I’m 100% sure that it works with the Laser Saber, as I have the Attack vehicle and a loose Laser Saber and they work perfectly together. The Laser Saber also works with the Cats Lair playset just like the Mutant Attack Vehicle.
So I’m about 98% sure that if a Thunderstrike had been released, that would have worked with all 3 as well.

To be honest I’d prefer it if that did not happen. It destroyed the collectibility of some of the classic 80’s carded He-man figures in my opinion. It also opened up a can of worms when people were trying to sell the commemoratives as 80’s packaged versions.
To be honest I don’t think I have anything to worry about since LJN no longer exist and don’t think WB or whichever toy company gets a classic toy licence (should it happen) will be able to mold and re-pack the LJN figures. I guess they could do what Mattel did and buy MOC figures off Ebay and make new casts from those figures. Like I said though, I very much doubt it will happen. If we get figures based off the Rankin-Bass series then they will likely be new sculpts.
and yep I want a new toyline! and 2 of my hopes are for a Castle Plundarr playset and a Willa action figure. LJN should have scrapped Tuska Warrior in the original line in favour of Willa
