Lion-o's welcome message (Quicktime)

I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m gonna bring it up again.

Just now I’ve downloaded the latest QuickTime player from Apple.com that works with Windows 98 so I could play the Masters Cast interview video with Lou and Erika Schiemer.

Well, I came on to our front page to check out the Lion-o welcome again and realised (like last time) I cannot get it to work!

It keeps sending me to download the latest version of QuickTime! However I cannot download the very latest version because it’s not right for use on Windows 98! It needs an operating system of Windows 2000 or above!

I’m just wondering if any other site visitors are experiencing the same problems as I am. To be perfectly honest I don’t know why people use QuickTime at all because I absolutely hate it! What’s wrong with Real player and Windows Media player formats?

So I wondered if there is any chance of putting a direct download link of the message just incase people have problems with QuickTime? I think I suggested this before, but the suggestion was just phoo phooed off :frowning:

Nevermind, I got it to work. Just needed to alter some settings in the player.

Still not a fan of QuickTime though!

Chris here…

I’ve never had that problem, although on our old Windows 98 family PC I used to not be able to get the message to load past a certain point. I agree, maybe in smallish lettering put underneath the message “(If the message won’t load for you, click here [insert link to soundfile] for Windows Media Player version!)”

Take care…
