Lion-O stole Panthro's threads!!

Hey guys, thought I’d share a picture of an awesome painting that I am trying to secure. If I’m able to buy this piece we can put the picture of the original painting, and the picture of the actual poster that it comes with on the site.

This painting was prepared for producing a poster that was to be used for promotional purposes, to tout the show to studios. It was never used with the broad public because the final character designs changed before the show actually hit the air.

If anyone knows who the artist was, please let me know!

The painting is quite large… it’s 28 inches by 39 inches, and the painting was done with the t-cats in their prototype/non-final versions, the same that we saw in the pilot episode synopsis feature. In fact, the painting is an improved, more detailed version of the cover sheet on that synopsis.

Thing was, that until now we didn’t have a full colour version of the prototype cats…

That has all changed!

PLEASE DO NOT SHARE THIS IMAGE WITH ANYONE, I AM SHARING IT WITH THE TEAM ONLY AND ASK YOU TO KEEP IT CONFIDENTIAL FOR NOW.

Nice work there Mark, not sure we have spoken yet. I really like this and hope you do secure it… What is is drawn in pastels?

hey kzlambert… pleased to make your acquaintance. We’ve not chatted I don’t think… I was on board for the launch of the site and then started getting busy with work. I put the animation art section together with Manny’s vital help.

Hi, its kyle and nice to eventually speak to you (in a way).. can I just repeat my question in actual English Is the picture below done in pastels do you know? Thanks

I’m not sure what it is done in, I have very little information on the piece so far, just the dimensions and the scan. I will let you know more when I find out though. If your expert artist guess is that it is pastels, you may be right!

Ok no worries, its a very nice piece regardless. Speak soon

Chris here…

Like I said in another thread, Mark, you sure know how to make an entrance upon your return! That is one hell of a piece, I cannot wait to find out more about it!!

If you get chance, check out the production artwork from the UK ThunderCats comic I recently obtained exclusively for this site - the experience for me of seeing some of this material in an early form reminded me of the “Wow!” factor I’ve had from seeing your cels!

Take care…
