Jim Starlin is a comic book writer who is perhaps most famously known for his work on Marvel’s “cosmic” books. He’s the one who wrote the iconic mini-series “Infinity Gauntlet.” So basically I think it’s Casey’s way of saying the stones are pretty much a direct homage to that story.

OMG!! Are we still comparing this to the original series? Grow up people, if you want the original build a time machine an go back to the 80’s, otherwise don’t slander this series into cancelation. These guys are making a good show to watch with our kids so they know the Thundercats. Oh i forgot most us nerds are to scared to procreate. God forbid a remake come along an be more than halfway decent but that isnt good enough, go worship seth green on your own dime an see how much it pays off!!
Ok now that I’ve sat down to watch it uninterrupted, I loved the episode. My only real gripe is Armored-up Leo. Specifically the helmet. I think it would’ve worked quite a bit better if we could still see his head and hope when lion-O gets that far he doesn’t have it over his face the whole time.
I did like how the stones mirrored the gems on the OS claw shield when he got all 4. And it was cool to see the creation of the Sword of Omens. Unlike some of the other episodes I didn’t miss the rest of the group. The story didn’t need them there. And although they didn’t get much screen time, I did like the little that I saw of them like Cheetara sparring with the twins and Tygra fiddling with his gun. And this episode wasn’t so much about Lion-O as it was more about learning about the past.

Nothing is wrong w/ Seth Green, I would like to meet him but people his an my age on this site comparing this series to the original need to get a life outside of Robot Chicken an their hero worship. It is nice to see Thundercats anew with my kids, who cares about discrepincies from the original.
The new show is always bound to get compared to the show it was created from

Your post is extremely rude, which puts your point across very badly. A lot of fans agree that this series should be given a chance and to let it stand on it’s own, but they accomplish that in a much friendlier way 
Awesome episode! Man, I am so impressed with the folks behind this new show. Only 7 episodes in, and there is already a much more epic and cohesive narrative than the original series.

I agree, this really wasn’t a Lion-O centric episode but more of a backstory one that leads Lion-O to the next big quests of the series.
I didn’t see anyone comparing this episode with the OS nor saying they hated the episode. Where exactly are you getting that? I saw some people that were unhappy with a few things, but overall still said they liked the show. And there’s nothing wrong with not thinking the new show is any more or less perfect than the old show was.
I’m so with you in this one… it’s getting old and tiresome, just as “whiskers”.
I ws expecting it to be made by white tigers, just as a reference to Bengali and his “old blacksmith family” from the OS.
I am a big fan of Seth Green and Robot Chicken. I am also in the demographic that Robot Chicken is catered to.
But the comparisons between on show to another will always happen. It happened in Star Trek, Star Wars, MOTU, GI Joe, Transformers and anything else you can think of that has been reimagined.
I don’t think the opinions of the OS fans are going to change the future of the NS by any means
I didn’t get what Monstar was supposed to be? Another imprisoned animal species? An ally of Mumm-Ra? What?
On the other hand, were those monkeys supposed to be Monkian’s species? They seemed small, weak, fool and cowards (of course, that could be due to the imprisonment). The vultures and jackals seemed more fierce and intelligent.
I understand people may not agree with my views, yet i believe anyone complaining about the new show not following events and timelines from the original are biased. Yet i will fight to the death to defend these rights whether or not I agree with them, network executives monitor sites like this and for once i get to share an old favorite of mine renewed for my kids. Is this wrong? my daughter loves watchining this show, she is 6 and tonite she loved the fight between lion-o and mum-ra. Alas it wont make it past season one because everyone complains about it.
