Q: A lot of stars are doing character voiceovers in cartoons and movies now. Are they cutting in on your territory?
A: God bless them. If someone came to me and said, “I’ll give you $5 million to do the voice in this movie,” I’d do it. It does make it tougher on us who do it for a living, but Warner Bros. has announced they are making a “Thundercats” movie and we are talking about me doing the voice of Lion-O.
I really hope this means WB has contacted Larry in regards to the movie.
I would love nothing more than to see Larry Kenney reprise his role as Lion-O. However, I think he said this in my interview to him this year that they were talking to his agent but no offers yet… Who knows, really? But I guess it’s good news that it’s being discussed.
If this turns out to be true, I’m be SO happy!!! Glad that the WB is even acknowledging the show, and not going in a totally different direction altogether. :liono
If they could get Larry and Peter Newman back, that would be perfect And please let Larry voice Jackleman to boot. No serious take on that character, please :).
No offense to Lyn Lypton, but I never cared for her Cheetara voice. She was great as WilyKit and Luna though.
I kinda agree, athough I’m not sure if it was Ms. Lypton’s choice, or the voice director, but it seemed like cheetara talked too slowly. It was like she was talking in slow motion or something.. I can’t quite articulate my thoughts any better than that.
But again, I think it might have been the director’s imput that caused this, because I notice that some of the other voice actor’s dialogue was the same way occasionally, just not as pronounced and noticable as cheetara’s dialogue.
PleaseohpleaseohPLEASE let him do it. At least him, if not the rest of the surviving cast. I just can’t imagine anybody else playing the iconic voice of Lion-O as well as him! :liono
Can the studios just give the fans what they want for a change?
I think we would all agree that no one should voice Lion-O but Larry. It’s like saying “Let’s make a Muppet movie… but find some hot Hollywood name… like that guy from the vampire movies… to voice Gonzo, and Ms. Piggy will be voiced by Tila Tequila.”
I met Larry at SuperCon and what a great fellow. I attended his panel and he did reconfirm that the writing of the first script is like going back 30+ years. He said would not have agreed to do the voice over if the writing had been a negative impact on the Thundercats. He flies to LA today to do the voice overs for episodes 2 & 3. He has a feeling…not confirmed…but Claudus may only be in the first few episodes. I am really looking forward to this new part of the Thundercats universe. :pumyrahappy:
You bring us very interesting news willeya. From what we had heard up till now it was pretty much obvious that the story will take us back in time and Old Thundera would be the centerpiece. So, if the starting point is Thundera there is space for Claudus and Tygra to be the main characters but not for Lion-o…corroborating my initial belief that Lion-o wouldn’t be the protagonist at the first episodes, but as you mentioned Claudus probably will be present only at the early begining, therefore, after awhile the story will take us again in New Thundera or Third Earth. The latter in my opinion has less chances.
Finally, if Larry Kenney approves the script then we are heading in a good direction.
Doesn’t have to be either Jaga or Claudus! they can both exist simultaneously as mentors in spiritual form. Wouldn’t it be great to see the scene where they are standing side by side,both grasping the sword of omens in the episode Shadowmaster, repeated!:sneaky:
