Yeah, the current system needs to change ASAP. People are consuming media in so many different ways these days that deciding the fate of a show strictly on Nielsen ratings is just stupid. We have online streaming/downloading, DVR, On Demand and DVD viewers these days.
I believe they’ve started taking what shows people DVR into account too, but yeah it’s a flawed system.
Ah, but then in this case it has backfired on them, because even by their own flawed methodology,Thundercats is still crapping over a lot of other much more hyped shows, which means they can’t use it as a banner to cancel it!
Yet again i dont think they are that stupid. Of course it factor in but if a show does well on DVD and/or other media they will take that into account as well. Just look at Family Guy and Futurama. Of course these shows now are in a totally different league but the chance is still there.
That also explains why the ratings of the age of viewers is also super crappy too… and never made sense.
Which is also super ridiculous. Not too mention just as flawed as the US Government (not anti-American - but you gotta admit there is some truth to) At the same time, you also gotta admit that when it comes to America (sorry, but going back to it) a lot of things are voted with our dollar bills. And in this case, we vote with our ratings. Without that vote - there’s nothing to it. Which is just flat out moronic.

Realistically we won’t get a second season until at least spring 2013. They’ll need that much time to prepare and make it. Until then, I’m happy with full runs of the entire 1st season on CN, plus they had better start getting it out to other channels too! There are SO many people here in England who CAN’T watch Thundercats because of no access to CN, no DVDs, no other choice! Channel 5 showed a few episodes over Christmas, but then stopped at Into The Astral Plane!! WTF!!! In the meantime though the fact that Thundercats is now (not before time) spreading out to other countries and continents will surely boost the fandom a lot, and therefore the demand for more episodes.
Channel 5 aired Between Brothers as well, completing the first 13 episode run. Hopefully episodes 14-26 will air during the school holidays around the end of July (which it seems will coincide with the wave 2 toys release)
Did they? Hmm, must have missed that one with work. Thought they stopped the episode before that? Hopefully they will, but C5 are keeping schtum on it if they are. I’m made up the wave 2 toys will be released here in August, you are right it would be logical to coincide the two. Thundercats NEEDS a mainstream terrestrial TV run here, there are so many people who do not have sky or cable to be able to get CN.
It’s Saturday here and I watched ‘Native Son’, which was aired on official NZ television. Of course my brother was being a jerk and all, but I still managed to contribute to ratings (I hope) by managing to watch the end bit and the end credits (Which I had never ever seen before).
Why the heck is freaking Ninjago on?! What happened to rerunning the beginning of ThunderCats?! gah CN is so freaking FRUSTRATING!
They replace the Thundercats with Ninjago at the last minute. Don’t worry you ain’t the only one who is pi$$ed off at this.
