I have a lot to say.
This will only work if you have a Nielsen box and I’m guessing you don’t. Simply having a show on your TV doesn’t boost ratings.
It was kind of a joke but okay. That’s what I suspected.

TV ratings are provided by the Nielsen people. They give households a box that records what they watch and then extrapolates total viewership by their small sample. People without Nielsen boxes watching a show doesn’t effect the ratings.
I wasn’t talking directly to you, I recognized what you said as being a joke. I was just saying the whole “watch re-runs” plan is pointless.
Okay, I wasn’t aware of the neilsen boxes. So basically ANY ratings number is worthless if that is correct then? How can they extrapolate specific viewing figures (say 1.6 million people watched this show last night) from a small sample?
It isn’t 100% accurate, but the numbers they provide are what the industry goes by. They just guess at total viewership based on how many Neilsen families tune in.
That’s kinda BS.
But is the sad truth.
Well, considering the ratings for this show have been up to par with the other shows on around the same time (and even beats some like Green Lantern and Level Up), I really don’t have much to complain about ratings-wise.
Geez, no wonder some perfectly good shows get cancelled and alot of crappy ones stay on. Though I think part of that has to do with money as well.

Hammy you’ve amazed us all with your frequency in the Lair, i mean not even Panthro spends so much time inside the Thundetank:cool:, i love reading your posts and thank you for being such a fervent admirer of our beloved show.
I’d really like to read more your thoughts on the OS though! It’s so much epicness in there!
About the reruns, i don’t even have the standard ‘runs’ in my country, probably with the way things going here and the financial crisis never will…but rest assured once they get released in the EU DVD box set i’ll grab them in an instance
I never knew that!!! What a load of crap this ratings farce is then, considering how much weight TV companies and channels give to it!?!?!? What a joke! Oh well, at least the made up numbers show that Thundercats is still beating many of CNs headliner shows.
I feel unworthy to post a lot on those threads because I wasn’t even alive until years after the OS was over. I own all of the first season on DVD, but I haven’t seen most of the second season of it.
As for viewing the reruns, I think it’ll be good to get them good ratings even though they’re not new episodes. it will show that people are dedicated.
The really sad part is they know Neilsen ratings don’t work, but continue to use the system because it’s easier to justify cutting shows. It’s a set of numbers to wave around and say “See? SEE?” even though they have little-to-nothing to do with how many people are actually watching the show.
Ah, the flaws to modern society.
It has always been easier to use a broken system to justify your actions than to actually fix the system so you can be held accountable for them.
