I think it’s more that only very intense light can affect Mumm-ra in his everliving form.
I think he was Just the General on duty. Dont forget a Lion was By the Side Of Mumm-Ra. It looks as though Mumm-Ra was a Ruler of the Thundercats originally.
I wonder if Tygra knows that the Tiger clan betrayed the Thundercats or if that’s something maybe Claudius tried to hide from him…

Ok first off. That was awesome!!
Second, guys, that wasn’t the original Thundercats in that flashback. They called the Tiger one Tygus or Tygos or something, not Tygra, so they’re different characters.
Anyway Loved this episode! For once it didn’t feel like any characters were overlooked this time (except maybe Kit and Snarf, but still very much of an improvement on that front).
Cool to see some more backstory, though I do wonder why the ancient Thundercats were working for Mumm-Ra. Maybe he really was a Thunderian afterall. Or maybe he tricked them into believing he was good. He was known to do that in the OS. Nice seeing some of the old vehicles like the Feliner.

And so the Mum-Tank (Dan Norton said it’s called the “Storm Charger”) is his actual sarcophagus and doesn’t just look like it.
My only criticism is that I was a little underwhelmed at Mumm-Ra’s transformation. Expected something a little cooler.
Eeek! must have missed that! Looking forward to getting them on DVD! 
I’m guessing actually that the Thundercats were once Mumm-ra’s allies and became his slaves once he found the stones of power.
Another terrific episode! What really impressed me was that they found time to give each character a cool moment, even Snarf. Here are a few random observations/nitpicks I made mental notes of while watching:
I’m guessing Mumm-Ra’s sarcophagus regenerates his power, yet he takes it out and drives in it…wouldn’t he want to keep it safe?
Tygra either got a new whip or never lost it in the first place. It’d make the most sense that he got a new one when he acquired his armor, but didn’t see a need to use it until now. Not complaining, though, it was awesome to see him using it again.
How did that water trap even work? Panthro sinks and then somehow appears in the room above them? What? It’s not like he swam up seeing as how he can’t swim.
Lion-O trying to envoke Sight Beyond Sight was pretty cool.
It was great to see the team work together toward the end and try to distract Mumm-Ra so Lion-O could get to the top first. They even added a little moment where Lion-O looked down to see if Tygra was ok after he heard him scream.
Mumm-Ra is pretty brutal, I like it. The encounter did end in the lame “I’ll get you next time” cliche, but Jaga sacrificing himself was pretty cool. I do like that Lion-O still isn’t ready to take on Mumm-Ra, it gives us something to look forward to.
I didn’t mean the original thundercats as in the ones from the old show. I meant the original thundercats as in the original thundercats that defeated Mumm-ra as described by Claudus in the first ep.
i looks more to me like sometime in the ancient past that Mumm-Ra was a major part of the Thundercats chain of command. just based off of this episode and things Mumm-Ra has stated about the sword and such, i get the feeling that somewhere along the way the Thundercats actually betrayed Mumm-Ra and sealed him away, cutting all ties with him and technology once they got into a position of power
I really don’t know what to say aside form the fact that 24 minutes is not nearly enough for this show.
I liked this episode a lot!
The flashback raises ALL sorts of questions. Where did Mumm-Ra steal the “eye” from? He commanded a fleet that included cats? Who was that next to him? Sure looked like a Lion, and so far the only ones we’ve seen in this series were royalty. Hmmm…
I really enjoyed the RPG-ish trek to the Tower. It was a lot of fun, and I did enjoy how everyone ended up helping out.
So Mumm-Ra’s tank is ALSO his tomb. I know not everyone likes the tech aspect, but I have to say this was actually pretty cool. I hope we get a toy of that soon. I’ll buy it.
The Tower of Omens looks MUCH better in the series, doesn’t it? It’s going to be interesting to paint. I wish the toy reflected the actual thing more with the wooden posts but oh well. It did explain why there wasn’t more to the playset… there doesn’t seem to be much more to the tower other than the the recess in the waterfall with the three lion heads.
I loved that Cheetara’s eyes glowed when Lion-O said the call. But I feel like it’s very inconsistent the way it’s used. And why was only Cheetara summoned? Maybe the others were and we didn’t see it? Or maybe the eye just summoned the one that would be needed?
Mumm-Ra’s transformation could have been a little more dramatic. It kind of lacked some oomph, I thought. But it was good to finally see him in his larger form. I still don’t understand what his weakness is… wasn’t he out and about earlier in the light with no problem? Or was the jungle overgrown enough he was not directly in it? Hmmm…
Anyway, I enjoyed it… definitely intrigued to see where it’s all going.
Ah, sorry. The wording was a little confusing.
It does leave open the possilbity not all the Thunderians turned away from tech and there still might still be out there doesn’t it?
And am I the only one that thinks Pathro either has or will get a mechanical eye in this series?
I think it’s just intense light. In the pilot he was interrupted by the first light of the dawn, so that was considerably brighter than the dark. It looks like he can tolerate light (the cloak probably helps with this), but not really bright light.

Anyone else wondering where the Cat’s are gonna live in that tower? There’s not exactly much room. Well, it’s big, but it’s just one big round room with a giant pole going up to another big round room. That’s it as far as I can tell.
Pfisiar and I were just speculating about this in the chat room. We (and if I am wrong Pfisiar Feel free to correct me) think he is Fine in day light unless he is in his Everliving Form. He got away with it in the Temple because their was no Direct Intense Light. Till Jaga Lit him Up that is. But that is just a working theory. I think the reason it got him in the Premier was cause he was in that limbo stage between forms when the sun hit him. but he was fine in it afterwards While still in his Mummy Form. Apparently his Mummy form is not his “Normal” form according to the man errr… Mummy Himself.
That appears likely. It looked like it was about dusk when he arrived and the forest probably blocked most of the light too.
I hope we get more on the Thundercats revolt against Mumm-ra. It would be cool if not all the clans immediately jumped ship when it happened. Odds that the Lion and Tiger in the flashback are ancestors of Tygra and Lion-O?
Panthro’s line about Tygra drooling was funny but I hope there isn’t an actual triangle between Lion-O/Cheetara/Tygra that that comment could be hinting at. Tygra really doesn’t need another reason to feel inferior to Lion-O.
Also, nice to see that Tygra still has the whip and I got a good laugh at Lion-O’s futile effort at reaching the lever that was half way down the cliff.
Yeah, second episode that happened.
He took a nasty hit in Peddlers too.

Another very strong episode this week.
Mumm-Ra gets the line of the episode while talking to Lion-O:
“You are much like your father”
“What do you know about my father?”
“Only that I killed him!”
AWESOME!!! Although I have to give a runner up to “We were doing nothing. She was just showing me how to work my sword.” Wow! lol.

The action & visuals really carried the show this week as the closing fight with Mumm-Ra and the various action scenes involving the Traps leading into the Tower of Omens were pretty good.

I loved how the T-Cats worked as a team and everybody contributed well. Cheetara in particular had her best episode so far, showing off her abilities, her character, & suffering a great loss with Jaga’s sacrifice, now putting her with Lion-O & Tygra emotionally. Tygra bringing back the Whip was awesome. I was like “YES!” and Panthro trying to duke it out with Mumm-Ra was pretty sweet. The Thunderkittens’s street personalities both helped & hindered them in this one, but it was nice to see them get involved. Heck, SNARF finally got something to do here besides stand around and look cute. When he found the entrance I was like “good for you Snarf!”

The interactions between the team mates was great too. You can really see how much they’ve bonded since the first episode. They aren’t the close knit family unit we saw in the original series, but they are a lot more comfortable with each other.

Jaga sacrificing himself for the team again was nice to see. At first I was disappointed that they beat Mumm-Ra a little too easily, but since it was a one time method of defeating him, that makes it more acceptable.

The star of the show was Mumm-Ra. The glimpse into his past answered some questions, but raised many more. Mumm-Ra seemed to be some sort of intergalactic Warlord that meshed magic & technology to conquer worlds…with The Thundercats as his army!!! Or at least the Tiger clan. It’ll be very interesting to see how that all plays out and whether or not that will effect Tygra. But getting back to this episode, it was great to finally see the Everliving form for the Big Bad Mummy. He was pretty powerful too, easily taking on the entire Thundercat team.
OK, now, few nitpicks:
- Panthro can’t swim? Really? What’s up with that?! That just seemed so out of left field.
- So Lion-O needed the Sword of Omens’ Sight Beyond Sight to tell him to look down the cliff? I mean sure its not an overly obvious spot, but he must have really felt dumb when he saw that, huh? He shouldn’t have needed Sight Beyond Sight to find that if he was patient enough.
- I wish they hadn’t shown Mumm-Ra’s Everliving form in that Flashback just for dramatic effect when he reveals himself at the end of the episode.
Overall, another very enjoyable episode.
