It sounds like they may add another episode. Or maybe, they are using those charatcers to voice over the events after the last episode. I guess they are just trying to see if we will accept someone else to voice over the charatcers of Jaga and Mumm-ra for a new cartoon.
If they are using new character design, maybe they are using the DVD market to see if it will fly and what better way to test new ideas then by showing true fans of the show what to expect over the horizon.
I still say that they should just continue from the original series. Maybe not immediately after the very last show, which was shown last on TV close to twenty-years ago. Maybe they should have the storyline continue years later, but through flashbacks, explain what has happened over the years. This will give the writers plenty of freedom to explore and be creative while maintaining the show’s original premise.
I am just hoping against hope that THE POWERS THAT BE don’t pull a HE-Man or even a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and create an entirely new series. TMNT is actually okay, but the new He-man which came out a few years ago wasn’t nearly as good as the original.
I honest don’t think the Thundercats would be the same under a “completely new” direction and I am worried that with Warner Bros at the helm of the new cartoon", it may not be all that great. I mean, look at the DVD releases so far. So many unforgivable mistakes that could have been eliminated in production had better care been taken. Is this how they are going to handle the new show?
Anyway, my name is Joe and I just signed on today. I am a big fan of the show and have been disappointed with the DVDs; quality and content wise. I long for the Thundercats to return five days a week like they used to, but only if it is REVIVED in its original form… with updated visuals of course.
Also, sorry for my ignorance, but does anyone know if Leonard Star (Writer for most of the Thundercats episodes) is interested in writing for the new Thundercat series. He was the best!
Thanks for welcoming me. My first post should have been more about me and not about what I thought of the DVD releases and the possible new Thundercats series.
Anyway, this site is cool and I like the Thundercat Encyclopedia. I have been a fan ofthe show since it first aired on TV, but somehow, I missed out on many of the second season’s episodes.
I also like He-Man, but it does not compare to Thundercats. I think She-Ra was much better than He-Man.

I’ve got to say, I’ve no idea what WB are planning - but, whatever it is, it’s certainly got my intrigued. I’m just praying that someone at WB decides that December is too long to make us TCat fans wait for the final boxed set!
I agree with a lot of your sentiments and thoughts - whilst I was gagging for a new He-Man series (and was semi-pleased, semi-disappointed with in equal measure) and am totally in love with the new TMNT series (which surprised me, given what a huge fan I was of the original), I feel that the original ThunderCats cartoon was close to perfect. Whilst I’ve heard people say “Man, I wish the original Turtles cartoon had been less goofy” or “I wish that Filmation’s He-Man had had better animation”, the only criticism of the original ThunderCats cartoon I’ve heard has come from non-fans, usually (to my bemusement) criticising the voice acting, or claiming (IMO wrongly) that it was a He-Man rip-off. I’ve never heard a true ThunderCats fan say “The toon was great, but if this, this and this had been different it would have been so much better”…
Don’t get me wrong, of all the 1980s properties I think ThunderCats is the one that most deserves a revisit - but, I’m concerned that the results may involve WB fixing stuff that isn’t broken!
I honestly have no idea if Leonard Starr would be interested in returning to write for ThunderCats, but if he did, that would improve my outlook on a potential new TCats series in a big way!
