Hey Guys
Here is the pic of my buddys Jaga figure. As you can see it is the flesh tone variant, but unlike the argentinian version, this one has the LJN wording stamped into the foot. These figures are fairly common in South Africa as I know of 3 that are in peoples collections, all with flesh skin and LJN wording on the feet. All the orange skin variants (Including mine) have come from ebay or places like that. It seems that these figures suggest that LJN made both orange ond flesh versions, despite the fact that no flesh variants have been found on LJN cards.
I am pretty sure that this is not a bootleg as all the other figures that are found in SA are legitimate figures with correct sculpts and paint etc…
I have added the wording over the pics just to defend my friends property, and to stop people from using the images for their own benefit. Hope you guys can still get a good look.
I dont know on this. Honestly that Jaga doesn’t (at least to me) look like the flesh colored Playful variant. I think it looks mostly like the standard yellow version. I could be wrong maybe its the lighting. The armbands look like the LJN version and the sword is definately the LJN version. The colors on the helmet are like the LJN version. Maybe it was just left in the sun to long and distorted the colors. HOnestly I dont know, I haven’t any other ideas. Any one else have any idea did LJN actually make flesh toned Jagas?
I dont think colouring of the figure is due to sun exposure. If you look at the foot you can see that even in places under the foot where paint has rubbed off the plastic underneath is also flesh coloured. Like I said before, there are also a number of figures this colour around here. It isnt as pink as the playful variant, but it is a completely different colour to the traditional “Yellow” variant. The picture is a bit yellow due to the indoor lighting though.
I will try get some pics of the other two that I know of so that you guys can see the consistency of the colour accross all three.
I gotta say, it looks like the standard LJN Jaga to me too. All the talk on this variant has always been that not only was it flesh coloured but had a comletely different sculpt which this one does not have. I’ve never heard or seen a flesh coloured Jaga with the LJN sculpt so for me there are only the Playful version and the LJN version, nothing more. Until more evident proof were to arise that is. Almost all TC figures have minor colour/shade variations so this Jaga may just be a lighter shade of yellow cos even though the indoor lighting may have something to do with the colour of the image I don’t think it’s a variant. I just started a new thread on lighter and darker Ratar-O which may also turn up not to be another variant, with your help of course:)
I agree that there are only 2 true variants, the LJN version and the Playful version. But that is exactly my point, as these LJN figures seem considerably more “flesh” coloured then “Yellow”. I also understand that different batches show slight colour and paint differences, as I have 3 cheetara figures, and 3 tygra figures which are all different in some subtle way. What I find interesting is that these jaga figures are in my opinion authentic LJN figures, however they seem to show a significant difference in colour to the traditional LJN yellow variant.
I have attached 2 more pics of jaga figures for you to look at. They are not great as they were not shot for this purpose but I think they will give a little more idea as to what I am saying. Both these figures also seem to be LJN variants, but they too are considerably more flesh coloured then yellow. Its just an observation, and if they are new variants or not is a debate, but they do seem rather different to others I have seen.
Looking at the previous 2 pics, it appears as though the arms and legs are flesh toned and the body is more yellow toned.. what that means I have no idea…just an observation.

These images are from other south african toy collectors. My jaga figure is the regular yellow version so that is why I havent included pics of my own collection in this thread. I will post some pics of my own collection in the “collections” thread some time soon.
Well looking at these two pics it certainly looks like those Jagas are a different color than both the normal LJN version and the flesh colored (pinkish) Playful version. I’m officially stumped, maybe it is a new variant. Because it certainly does not look like your normal color variant that happens in so many characters.
Well I was going through my extra figs and found that I had the two Jaga differences that you have been talking about tcatempire. See pics. ONe has a white chest and head the other has a orange/cream chest and flesh tone head. There are also differences in the arm bands paint and the arms just a slight (these arent as major as the chest and head). One with the white chest says LJN toys ltd. 1987 Lorimar-Telepx Lci, T. Wolf on the foot and the other with the yellow/cream chest says the same thing except with an EL on the bottom and it starts with the date. Well here are the pics. It seems every Jaga I see is the flesh toned one with the closed right hand. Are there any pics of the variation (Open right hand)? I just want to be sure I am not confused in case I come across one.
Please read this thread as this has been discussed at length here with multiple pics of the playful vs ljn jaga. It took some digging but I found this thread to give it a much needed revival
Here is a pic of my 2 Jagas. One yellow one flesh toned. They both say LJN and the stamping and codes on the feet are exactly the same. Both of them have the long thumb. I had 2 other yellow Jagas that had the shorter thumbs but I sold them so I cant check the stampings.
