Lately I Been on Amazon & Ebay And The Figures Are Not Selling For Top Dollar?? 1 Week ago A Complete Lion-o and Snarf Sold Only For $26 As I Research on Ebay Lots of Figures Are Not Selling As Much:confused:
I was actually thinking the opposite. It seemed to me like they are going for more than they used to. I could certainly be wrong though.
Is interesting think about this issue in general collecting hobbies . In my personal opinion I donāt collect because is valuable, I collect because I like it, if the market get down or higher I still having what I love and that is my point of collecting. If the market is getting down, good for all the collectors who are looking for hard and expensive pieces, if is getting higher good for the people who want to sell them.
Just my 2 cents.

The old LJN line has already earned its rightful place on the pantheon of Toys.It isnāt an understatement to say that they helped a lot to keep the Thundercats franchise alive through this day. Their unprecedented quality attests to their perseverance and growing demand. Much as i am excited about t he new toyline as well, judging from the figures iāve seen until now, they canāt match up against the original.Even the aesthetic quality when displayed MOC is inferior for various reasons like height, many articulation points, overall card presentation.
So i really donāt think the ljn toys will ever stop selling at crazy prices.
Hear, hear, bro!!!![]()
I agree, that they have increased in value. I watch ebay like a hawk. looking for deals. to be honest, you just dont see the deals that much anymore. they are there but not like they were 2 years ago or before the new show started.
I also think that some listings fall through the cracks and may not get much attention. also the rarer figures (lynx-o, Jaga, Driller, Stinger, etcā¦)seem to be poppipng up on ebay less and less.
hey man, It is inevitable, at some point in the future there is going to be a comparison between the OLD VS NEW Thundercats toyline. But it is still too early to pass judgement and above all, i really donāt think we should spoil the fun and start grumbling with the pros and cons of the Bandaiās toys, there will be plenty of time for that in the future. Now itās the collectors time and reliving the dream
..Still i have a hint where the scale tips in favor ofā¦![]()
Iāve seen both MOTU and ThunderCats MOCs end up quite low lately.
Collectors get tired at some point or need cash, so they sell. However, no new collectors seem to appear due to age limits.
Whoever was a TC fan as a kid has collected by now whatever he needs⦠so it all kind of makes sense.
Donāt forget we are also in a down economy right now. The first thing to suffer are collectibles as people just donāt have as much extra cash to spend on their hobbies.
For the seller, obviously this isnāt good however for the collector trying to acquire those last few pieces to complete his or her collection, now is a very good time as there should be more supply (in theory).
I had put off completing my OS loose complete collection in favor of picking up the new figures, however I think Iām gonna go back to focusing on my original series collection. The new series figures just donāt do anything for me like the originals do. ![]()
The LJN āThunderCatsā toy line is a staple. It can never be forgotten.
I agree with AlexofThundera. We are in a bad economy right now, so people donāt have as much money to spend on collectables as they normally would. Also, the fact that the NS is still finding its audience probably doesnāt help the OS toy figures very much. ![]()
Yep, sold alot recently and some are struggling to sell!!!
I donāt think the LJN Thundercats will loose their value anywhere near in the future, a MOC lion-O series 2 still sells for 200 usd. As for the AFA cases nothing has changed with the sky high prices
However, the economy is bound to affect the Thundercats market as well.
Recently iāve watched a a few MIB SoO in great condition go in high prices .
I donāt know if you have seen this Lion-O, but iāve never come across such a variation,
i am not sure if the owner has tampered with the card and tried to reseal it on another blister but this is an LJN Series 1 Bubble, featuring the characteristic triangle shape, firmed on an LJN Series 2 Card!

Still, it might be a factory error
I posted about this figure too!
Very rare, in my opinion, one of a kind.
Itās a buyers market right now. Itās just that simple.
To be honest Iāve never collected for their value, but the nostalgia. So its not a bad thing for me as I still need a few items to complete my collection
Maybe Iāll be able to pick them up at a cheap price!
Iām with āblackiecatsā on this. I too just collect purely for sentimental reasons. When I was a child, my parents could only afford to buy me a few figures. But even today, the desire to have a complete TCats collection is alive within me so Iām always on the lookout for cheap, loose, used figures even if they have a little bit of wear and tear. So if the LJN figure really is losing its value then itās good news for nostalgiaphiles like āblackiecatsā and myself.
I feel right at home with the rest of your comments. I collect because of the joy it brings me. As with most I am on a budget, so this is news to my ears.
Looking this last years on Ebay 2009-2012 compared to 2002-2006 i have seen higher prices on the Thundercats. A good example can be a loose C8-C9 Driller. I remember when i saw them back in 2002-2006 they could be under the $100 range. Now most of good loose good condition Drillers run from $105-$150
I remember when i got my two MOSC (excellent condition) Captain Cracker Foreign for $20 and the American card one for $30 card in excellent condition too. Now i see them from $40-$70
I need to look more closer into other figures and creatures so i can compared with more variety.
It is common that some sellers put higher price on some pieces even they donāt sell them. Some of them do, wile others start their auctions in lower prices and make a decent amount of $$ with their auctions :).
I paid about 220 for my collection of complete Thundercats figures in 2003. All were complete and in C-7 shape. The collection consisted of Lion-o, Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, Mumm-ra, Slythe, Jackalman, Vultureman, Monkian, Hachiman, Mongor, Hammerhand, Topspinner, Crusher, Snowman, and the Driller, a Nosediver, a Fistpounder, and a treadless thundertank.
I sold the same collection for 785. Two weeks ago. I got 150 for my Driller alone.
