It was good while it lasted… I blame everything, not much else to say.
I hope a reboot will give justice to all fans someday.

Darn it all!
We already know this and have discussed it in the other "um.."thread.
The article still says there is still hope, and remember that the game is still coming out, so is the last dvd for season one. Jump over to THAT thread, read what’s been written and continue the chat there.
And no, this does not mean it’s cancelled.
All he’s saying is that it’d take years before another season gets underway… Doesn’t mean it’s cancelled, right?!
I know, right? I’ve signed that petition to help keep the 2011 series alive.
I really hate to say this, but at this point, I’m over it. I am extremely upset but now it’s time to move on. It was another incredible show stuck in a crappy timeslot by CN and cancelled for no definite reason. It’s happened to me so many times with CN that I’m pretty much numb to it now. I will never watch their corrupt network ever again and will not support anything they do.
The worst part is that CN couldn’t do it themselves. They had to let the artist do it so they wouldn’t look as bad. I’m sick and tired of their bulls**t and it’s just not going to be tolerated by me, and hopefully anyone, anymore. I’m saying this not for just the sake of ThunderCats, but for the sake of Symbionic Titan, Teen Titans, and so many other shows that CN has completely ruined.
And I would love a reboot that would continue the story, and it’s not far out of reach, but I want it to NOT be on CN. I have already been boycotting them for 3 months and don’t plan on ending that EVER. And we can only hope that someday we’ll be given justice and we’ll be allowed a cartoon that isn’t shut down by a bunch of a**holes.
And I’m mollified that they didn’t even dare to air Hot Wheels Battle Force 5: Total Revolution for English-speaking audiences. Yeah, it’s a cliched story and all, but I love it. sigh Cartoons back in the day were REAL entertainment. This is just great. Just. Great.
I feel strangely at peace about this. I don’t believe it’s cancelled. You can either call it faith or denial. More than likely, the cynic calls it “denial.”
Thundercats, HO!!!
Thundercats will never die. I’ve loved it since I was a kid, since 1985 and never have stopped since. I have suppported both the original and new series and will continue to do so.
Thundercats is something I’m very very passionate about too. I thank everyone that made it possible as well. I will never EVER quit on thundercats period. They better not cancel that nintendo ds game either. I will buy that too. I mean I love everything thundercats. And I can’t thank everyone enough for all there hard work in the old series and the new. Something like this really really rips at my emotions too. Cartoon Network never promoted it much at all and even it came close to Ben 10 ratings with all the promo cartoon network did for it.
If thundercats was given the same promo backing from cartoon network it would have out done there precious Ben 10 and they didn’t want that at all for thundercats or any other series.
And I bought a lot of the new toys well over $200 worth and both DVD sets so far and will get the third.
**** cartoon network and I could care less what I get punished for by saying that.

Wow, I haven’t posted here in ages but I must say my two cents worth…
I’ve been a fan of this show since 1985 and even I knew after the final ep that this was said and done. I just kept my mouth shut. It does break my heart that this show ended, even my kids loved it.
The new series went way off of the original, granted I am aware of the fact that a new series will try to be different to stand out but they kind of went a little bit too far from the original. I do believe when they went to the point of making the Thunderians starting off evil and Mumm’ra’s elite team, that killed it. Because of that, they were making the Thundercats a “redemption” story.
Perhaps I’m nostalgic, perhaps I’m just a middle aged 36 year old, but the original was perhaps best left alone. I remember my hay-day back in 2005 when I went online and met other Tcat fans and had my day in the sun in the RPGs. Those days have ended back in 2007, sure there were the small few that tried to keep it alive but at the end of 2007, it ran it’s course for all internet generations of Tcats…first gen to third…me being the third.
I remember finally getting my first computer in 2005 and meeting some of the first generation internet Tcat fans…they had websites, some of which were “GeoCities” at the time… Only a few real “old timers” would know what “GeoCities” were. My son was a toddler and my daughter was a baby at the time, my, how time flies.
For many years we Tcat fans waited for a reboot, something…anything and when we finally got it after over 25 years of waiting it was short-lived. It was fun while it lasted. Come on, who here didn’t keep clicking on refresh to see the latest replies while the new episode was being aired for the first time? I know I did. It was exciting.
What is now hard is you have the confusion of how to write fanfiction for Tcats…do you go according to the old series or do you go according to the new series? If you go according to the old series, do you include the characters of the old comics as well as the early 2000 comics? Do you mix that with the new series? UGH! Half of the problem is half of the new fans are only familiar with the new series and unaware of the old series.
I’m an old lynx here…NOT AS OLD AS LYNX-O, but been a fan since 1985 and on this site for years. Most of my generation is now middle aged, I’m 36, and most people my age are either in full time jobs or working on a degree or full time parents or both.
It breaks my heart that this show has reached an end after one season. When I was a kid, a season was 60 some eps or more…now it’s 12 eps like Japanese anime. If you are my age, you remember watching Tcats everyday after school! If you are my age, you remember the commercials of the new Tcat movie about the new three Tcats, it was called “Thundercats Ho!”.
But enough with nostalgia. We have to grow up sometime…but it was fun buying the new toys for my kids and watching the new episodes with them. I’m a ThunderMom, and I got the chance of living that nostalgia with them. I wouldn’t trade anything for those moments with my kids, watching them getting excited for the next new episode, hearing them say “Mommy! Today is when they are going to have the next new episode!” I’m grateful I got to have that opportunity with them. I feel blessed to share one of my most cherished childhood memories with them. It was great while it lasted.
The Fan comic is being based on the new show and at least one of the head writers did not grew up with the original Thundercats, that’s the most stuff i know about it.
I remember getting goosebumps when i saw the “Thunder… Thunder” in the premiere last year. Best thing i’ve seen in years.
And to be honest, i did like this story more. I dont really see it as a big redemption story as they did stop Mumm-Ra and then they crashed, it’s very interesting how they came up with all these ideas and really wanted to try something new. All in all it was not really the direction they took which made it bad (It does not get canceled cause it’s bad), the toys and other stuff did just not sell as much as they thought. Nowadays there is more shows and toys then it was back in the day with the original, you almost need a blockbuster hit right from the get go for it to stay alive, sadely that did not happen to Thundercats.
I actually wish there would be an actual “ThunderCats” movie.
I think we had it coming. I am very, very disappointed and even though the facts tipped the scales against us…deep inside i wanted to believe that Season 2 would return at some point in the future.
The worst part which makes me upset is Dan’s comment ‘It would take years to get back on TV’’ and i take that not only for the Season 2 but for any other upcoming Thundercats project.
Please don’t let Thundercats in limbo for another 25 years, it’s not good for the franchise neither the fans who love and support the show with all their passion. This will damage their reputation and despite me or other hardcore fans standing by the show for ever, the majority, especially the younger fans will dismiss Thundercats as a failed cartoon. And everybody knows that this isn’t reflecting the truth.
The reasons behind the present announcement are more or less known(iit’s not the time to discuss this though) and rest assured we did everything we could to keep it alive, however other sources didn’t show the same responsibility and love…
I a’m still trying to sink in the news. No season 2, meaning we’ve seen have half the story unfurl, like going to the movies and leaving in the hour. What conclusions can be made then for the movie??? None, you just get iy out of your mind.
So having said the above, don’t be amazed guys if the legend of Thundecats still lays on the OS and people refer only to the 80s for this franchise…The 2011 show will be forgotten in a few years.
Thudercats are too good, too legendary to die ever.
The writing was on the table ages ago. The trouble was that it would never live up to the hype of the original series. Sadly we all can’t go back to then playing with the toys and loving it-it was never the same feeling watching the new series with bandai figures-and kids didn’t get it.
Now I think we all now need to get someone like matty collector to bring out new figures based on the old series like motu-that would be amazing and that would definitely make up for the past year of Thundercats disappointment.
Thundercats will never die!!!
Assuming this news is correct, I saw it coming. I blame the toy line deployment more than anything.
Sucks. But not much we can do now.
It sucks, but at least the uncertainty is over.
And as many of you have already said, I guess we all have known it for a while now.
By reading these news I realized how much I’ve loved this show, I’m very sad now.
Of course I heard the rumors, but I really have a expected a second season …at least.
I absolutely don’t understand the world of TV. There so much shi… in TV.
I loved the NS from the first EP. IMO it has enough potential for more than six seasons.
I’m searching for answers, why? Only because of the bad toyline? In the end Bandai was on a good way. The 6 inch figures aren’t that bad.
Was it only bad promoting? Bad selling?
I also think the hiatus was not good for the show, and the ‘weak start’ with New Alliances and Lion-o’s trials.
IMO the first half was much better than the second, what doesn’t mean that I don’t like the second half. Okay, wrong thread to discuss this.
But this doesn’t answer my question. WHY???
Say that again my friend. We\ve been searching for answers for many months ever since Season 1 ended. The truth is that the facts afterwards weren’t on our side.
The big WHY, is how come the producers, WB, CN didn’t hear the fans’ support and love for the show. The bad vide surrounding Thundercats appeared out of thin air. As if they meant to kill the show. I remember the pessimistic talk in the forum concerning the poor quality of the new Toyline as well as the unacceptable stop of the show for a few months or the sudden time slot changes, HOWEVER, even under these unfortunate circumstances the show rocked, the fans still loved it and everybody agreed its great.
What an irony to let the NS die despite being so good, despite the fans being the pillar of strength all the while.Brushing aside 10.000 signatures and all the emails, letters, twitters, our whole campaign is exasperating.
A big thank you to Dan Norton , Matthew Mercer for being actually the only people from the production team who tried to save the NS and reached out to the fans.
I really wish the rest had done the same.
so sad…
I am as big a fan as they come..supported the show 100%, spent over $1000 on the new toy line, DVD, merchandise, watched every episode etc…but lets face it the show did not live up to the expectations…there we a lot of good things, but also a lot of “why did they do that???” moments (stretch armstong panthro, and “whiskers”)…my brother and I grew up with and love the old show, but many times we would look at each other and say “that was it??” after the episode was done…there were some really boring episodes…this show was already a hit, all they needed to do was modernize it…instead they tried to reinvent it…i kept waiting for the berserkers, lunatacs, mongor, shiner, not to mention bengali…etc. the hit characters…
that aligned of course with POOR toy distribution, low quality merchandise, no promotion of the new toy line or tv show, i think the only time i saw a re run on a different time slot was 5 am sunday at some point…
instead of giving us pumyra toys, or kaynar…they gave us a 4th panthro …4 inch, 6 inch, deluxe, stretch armstron panthro..my god…give us something new…
I am in shock at how incompetent this “team” that brought back thundercats was…
I would have liked the new show to continue as it is ‘Thundercats’ but I was very disappointed with the designs and the different characters’ personalities.
The story was to much of a radical change compared to the original series. Look at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers and Masters of the Universe. Thosee shows sucdeeded because they stuck to the original story and didn’t change things up to much. There was quite a few aspects about the new show I really disliked. Even my Mum and Dad were not to impressed with the new show, they used to watch the old show with me when I was younger and over Christmas when it was on Channel 5 they seen some of it and althought they said the niation was nice the designs were odd looking and the characters were nothing like they were in the old show.
Not to mention they introduced key charactersd far to late and a lot of the episodes were pure filler.
Not to mention the Bandai toy line was a joke, the 8" classics were good, but the new show toys were terrible compared to old LJN figures.
If we get a new series or a movie I hope they stick to the original series mythos and characters and the toys get produced by Playmates, Hasbro or Mattel.
I will always love the original series and toys. :liono
