“Yesterday at Iron Studios official panel the epic moment when we announce our new license Thundercats !”
Announcement video linked above. It’s great to hear the excitement of the fans.
I don’t own any Iron Studios products, but they have been making some of the best looking collectible statues in the last few years. Including smaller and more affordable 1/10 scale statues.
More statues and novelty items LOL. :laugh:roflmao
Does any Thundercats fan want more…if any statues???
Warner Bros please stop giving the licence to companies to make statues!
What is the typical price point for these types of statues?
Why are they called mini-maquettes?
edit: in case my second question seems insane, let me state, I get the mini part. What is throwing me is that maquette is a french term for basically a draft used for reference. These are finished pieces, so that’s throwing me.
I think in this case, “maquette” is used to mean a miniature as in “this 2 foot tall, 1/4 scale Hulk Maquette is representative of a character that would be over 8 ft tall in real life”.
It depends on the company. I enjoy Sideshow’s maquettes but will not purchase them, as the price point is too high for me for the high end ones. Introductory Sideshow maquettes can be as low as ~$200 and go north of $1,500 - but these are made of polystone and other high end materials. All that said, I see similar looking DC pieces on the Iron Studios website for $17 and are made of plastic. Since Warner Brothers owns licenses for the DC and Thundercats, it’s a pretty safe bet that they’ll be in the same $17 price point.
