Yep, I’m sure I’m about to make myself very unpopular! (j/k!) But, I’ve found some info that needs amending/adding to, and another entry that needs making to the Prototypes Section that recently went online!
On the “Mumm-Ra with black cape” figure seen here:
…we now know from catalogue scans that MannyC recently aquired that this was a prototype not for the regular Mumm-Ra figure, but for an unreleased version of Mumm-Ra that came with a “leaping” action feature. There was also a corresponding Lion-O figure planned for release too. Each figure was designed to come with a special base, and additionally both had a unique feature - Mumm-Ra had the cape (described in the catalogue as “wings”), and Lion-O was to come with a growing Sword of Omens accessory - so, presumably a version of the Sword with a trigger-release mechanism of some kind to simulate the growth of the Sword you see in the cartoon. I know that everyone is probably sick of the Proto’s page by now - but, I can’t help feeling that this is info that needs adding, both to the Mumm-Ra with black cape entry (which I’m guessing would need renaming?) and with the addition of the corresponding Lion-O too. I hope you don’t mind me bringing this up - what do you guys think?
I can’t somehow imagine Kyle will be saying thank you to me, given that he thought this one had been put to bed! But, hopefully it’s not too complicated a thing to add/change.
LOL, sorry Kyle! I think Neil & MannyC are clued-up on what needs adding and changing, so hopefully one of them will be able to provide you with the info you need!
I guess we just add the pic of the Mummra with cape and springboard to the existing mumm ra with cape page and modify the text. Also the assortment and pack needs changing as well.
The Lion O with springboard and growing sword of Omens would have to be made into its own page

The only thing that needs amending is the images need marking with the site logo. Other than that well done Manny!
It shouldn’t be too difficult to amend the Mumm-Ra one, could we add the image with his springboard underneath the one with his cape?
Just amend the title to Mumm-Ra with cape and Springboard
then change the description to:
In the 1985 LJN Dealer catalogue the Mumm-Ra action figure was pictured with a black cape, reminiscent of the cape he wore on the cartoon series. This prototype was also pictured with a springboard that provided a leaping feature. When Mumm-Ra was released in 1985 the cape was absent and the springboard leaping Mumm-Ra was never released either. There are a few possibilities as to why these were never included, with the most obvious being to reduce production cost or because the cape might hinder play, especially with the figure having the light up eyes feature. Remember LJN purposely removed these for the release of the Luna Lasher Mumm-Ra, Mumm-Ra figure so his features wouldn’t hinder play when connecting him to the Luna Lasher. It’s likely the leaping feature was ditched at the last minute (perhaps due to playability) and so they went with the battle-matic action instead.
