Inconsistencies and Things that don't make sense

But that’s my point. If it was not intentionally done by Jaga and just accidentally damaged, Jaga would have had to have seen Lion-o aging in the suspension capsule. Unless he never got up from the control seat of the ship. He would have seen it.

You have a point Cougar.

Now, what would he have done anyway? Wake up Panthro and tell him to cede his capsule to Lion-o because his life is more important?

I don’t think that he would do that. But he could have tried to fix it. If not, he could have done like someone mentioned in an earlier post, he could have used that opportunity to train Lion-o. All it would have taken is maybe 1 or 2 extra scenes in the episode.

I think it was a plot device that apparently they didn’tthink through completely, especially when it came to adding the new TCats in Season 2. For all we know, the mutants could have naturally lived long enough to not need them.

I think the biggest plot hole was with the 2nd season additions.

BUT, if we want to continue to pick this some more, aging, does not necessarily mean growing. So how did Lion-O GROW and develop his muscular physique?

I asked that (what is in bolds) some pages back. The answer? Some toxins in the space capsule

And I agree in that the major plot holes came with the new TCs.

Sorry, I hadn’t been following the conversation that closely :(.

Going back in time to when I watched the OS from 3.5 on, as a 4 or 5 year old, or even older as I watched them on VHS that my mom taped for me, I never thought about, or new about, plot holes and inconsistencies!!

I guess it is theoretically possible that the Berbils had stasis pod technology too, the Mutants too, but that just sounds like we’re stretching things. I doubt the writers put that much thought in to it.

Well, if the Mutants didn’t have suspension capsules, maybe that’s why the end of Exodus sees dozens of Mutants on the ground, but after that there’s never more than 2 minions of each species… Now THERE is a plot hole.

Yep, where were they when the Brutemen built Castle Plun-Darr? Though they did appear again towards the latter end of the first series, before completely vanishing again permanantly :frowning:

One of my major gripes was that we never got an episode where the entire Mutant army attacked Cats Lair.

And if ThunDera and Plun-Darr were so close (the moons of Plun-Darr affected the landscape on New ThunDera), why didn’t the rest of the Mutants pay a visit to their newly reformed neighbor?

Or after Vultureman mysteriously showed up and mysteriously was able to contact Ratar-O, why didn’t he go back and get reinforcements?

The only way I can make sense of it is placing ‘Spaceship Beneath The Sands’ before ‘Lord Of The Snows’ (the UK VHS release actually did this!) so that you can assume the Mutants were able to call in Vultureman since they had their technology back. He then appears in the following episode.

As for the Mutant army, I guess we have to assume that the drones headed back to Plun-Darr and Ssslithe, Jackalman and Monkian were alone on the ship that went down beneath the sinking sands.

Again perhaps the mutant army later re-appeared after the Mutant leaders got their ship back to make a communication device?

Then Vultureman used this same device to call in Ratar-O?

What if it wasn’t Lion-o’s time capsule that was defective? Jaga did say that some aging takes place, so obviously part of the suspension capsule technology is to keep those in it alive, taking care of nutrition and waste as well as keeping muscles toned. Which explains how Lion-o looked coming out of stasis… Now a main part of the suspension capsules slows down the aging process, So what if it was Kit and Kats capsules that where defective? A higher concentration of suspension gas that slowed the aging process more then it should have. Or maybe it just has different effects on different people depending on individual biology and metabolism.

What I always wondered was how it took them so long to get to Third earth then but later they where able to go back and forth between 3rd earth and new Thundera so quickly? O.o

Might be. But if it was Kit and Kat’s capsules the ones that malfunctioned, then Panthro, Tygra and Cheetara shoudl have aged as well, and they didn’t.

About how they got to travel to New Thundera that fast, it was because Tygra attached some special propulsors to the Feliner so the trip to NT lasted only a few nanoseconds (whatever it was); he said so in the Thundercubs 5-parter, I think.

He said “Half a Thunderian eon”, to which Cheetara replied, “That’s great, we won’t even have to use the suspension capsules.” So, the boosters are part of the reason. Also, a Thunderian eon must be really short.

But it was never clear that New Thundera reformed in the same location as Old Thundera. The only clue that suggests it is Lynxo’s discovery of New Thundera in “ThunderCubs Part 1”, when he says, “The signals are coming from Thundera… as though parts of the planet were reforming.” But, if he determined that is was Thundera through some method other than its location, then it could have been reforming closer to Third Earth, which would rationalize the shorter travel time (in addition to the boosters).

Another possibility is that the Flagship lacked a megacondenser altogether, or that it was damaged in the Mutant attack.

Thanks Zax. Didn’t remember his exact words

But the trip shouldn’t have been that short though. In “Mossland Monster”, when Tygra visited, he decided to go throught the meteorite rain because going around the planet would have taken him like two hours (I think that’s the time he said)… he must have been really eager to see them (understandable after being left in Third Earth alone for God knows how long) if he could’t wait two hours after a long trip.

Unless the trip wasn’t that long, but hey! going around a planet can’t take longer than going from one planet to another, right?

The whole thing of leaving Tygra and Pumyra on 3rd earth was rediculess. There really wasn’t a need for them to protect anyone or anything. The mutants were locked up, Mumm-ra followed the others to New Thundera and the lunataks, well I don’t really remember what happened to them. They shouldv’e blown-up or have destroyed the cats lair and tower of omens as to not have left anything behind that couldv’e gotten into the wrong hands and then offer any 3rd earthling the chance to move to New Thundera.

I have a feeling poor Tygra must have made many visits to the tower of omens to.. Umm.. “check on Pumyra”.

Couldn’t agree more; leaving them there had no sense at all.

BTW, Pumyra stayed at the Lair and Tygra at the Tower (another ridicule thing to do considering they lived precisely in the others’ building before that).

i personally might be the only one i guess that ive seen liked the idea that two thundercats were to stay on third earth while the others went to thundera. im not sure if i would of chosen the ones that went i probably would of had liono cheetarah the kids snarf and snarfer with lynxo and panthro go bengali and pumyra were keeping things safe on third earth at the tower and cats lair respectively.
but i beleive the writers sent one of each new and older charachter that way each group would have a representative going and staying from the new and original.

I also think writers opted for one of each group to stay in Third Erath… personally I would have left none of them, but if that was necessary, I’d have left the 3 new ones, and send the old core group to New Thundera; after all, they were the “real” TCs.

BTW, so you think Tygra should have gone or stayed? (you didn’t mention him lol)

i believe lynxo should go cause he was important to the thundercat team as he gave liono lots of wisdom so we didnt need jagas help as much as he did at one time so he had another great influence. as for tygra he went w them to thundera or stayed back it would of been a great option cause of his abilities to build make things
