Ok, one of the first things that I mentioned about this site when I joined in May was how hard it was to find. I knew it existed, lost the URL and it took me months to find it in the UK search engines. It is almost hidden in google.
So I have found this page which seems to be all about getting noticed and increasing traffic. Celesta mentioned about Meta Tags (HTM talk lol)..So with the re-design I think it may be important to address this issue and take not of this page.
Sorry Kyle, but I don’t really understand HTML language. What do we need to do to get higher up in search engines? Just put certain HTML tags on the home page?
If you know what needs to be done though, I say go for it!
It’s not just meta tags that could help, but met tags is the “free” way to go to get into search engines.
An example of added but needing funds to do is Traffic Blazer from GoDaddy.com. For a fee, TB is supposed to make sure your site gets in the top ratings.
Traffic Blazer sounds like the best idea but the problems is the funds part. If the rest of the team can come up with $30 it could be done and paid for 1 year. If not then we’ll have to live without the site showing up on search engines

So it costs $30 per year, or $30 each member per year?
If it’s $30 per year, that’s only like $5 each per team member. I can certainly afford that no problem. It’s only about ?3 in GBP.
$30 per year…which is like $5 per member. I think that can be more affordable for everyone rather than one person covering the whole $30. If everyone else can chip in $5 then we can get this started. If you all agree we can surely get this started this week. If you all choose to I can receive the funds via paypal and once we have all the funds I can send the funds to godaddy.com If everyone can agree to just $5 then we can have this in no time…My paypal is rodzm@hotmail.com, if sending funds let me know via this thread. Let’s do this…I think we can jump up to the top and get more members this way.
If $5.00 / ?3.00 approx is the figure we’re talking about, on this occasion I can probably help out - my biggest problem is that I don’t have a PayPal account. What I could do is send Neil a cheque for ?3.00, and Neil could then effectively put in ?6.00 - ?3.00 from him and ?3.00 from me. Even if Neil was happy with this it would delay my contribution, but it’s probably the best I can do. What do you think, guys?

That would be fine. I’ve done a check on www.xe.net for the exact amount Chris, and it’s ?2.69. If we call it ?2.75, that will allow for any conversion fluctuations.
We can get the ball rolling once I receive the funds, at that time I’ll get with Kyle so he can work on getting us up there in the ranks. I’m pretty much a dummy with all this stuff so perhaps both Celesta and Kyle can work together to bring us up in the ranks. I did noitce that we are #5 in Yahoo when thundercats forums is searched. Thats as high as it is and in Google we are no where to be found
Update: I went ahead and got traffic Blazer since Celesta sent her share already and we are seeing improvements…when thundercats is searched on yahoo we turn up at #13 and when thundercats forums is searched we turn up at #3 so definitely some improvements. Unfortunatel we are not showing up yet on the top searches on google
I sent my payment to Neil and he’s told me that he received it this morning, so hopefully you should soon be getting his and my share once Neil’s able to get that sorted!
Re: improving traffic - just a thought, are all (or at least most) other ThunderCats sites linked to ours? In theory, if people are visiting other ThunderCats sites first via the links that get thrown up by search engines, they could still end up here via a website link.
I’m not sure of theyre linked to ours but i can say that the reason forthe improvements are from the meta tags that we have added to the pages…hopefully with time we will turn up on google search. It is an improvement to be at #3 and #13 especially with just typing thundercats on yahoo. A lot can turn up with just thundrecats and we turned up at #13 so its definitely a great improvement. I have noticed a surge in members over the past week or so who knows if it is due to the higher rankings
