And speaking of reviews… I noticed that grading on IMDB is open now… Go voice your opinion…
While there are a lot of things that annoy me with the new Thundercats:
Too short episodes, bad intro and so on…
…I still graded the show a 10… I try to use an even scale when grading movies and series… and with its flaws I still believe it is among the top 10% shows I have seen.
I’d have to give it a nine. Love the new direction that they are going. This Thundercats is a lot more political and intriguing than the old one. It was a nice touch having Larry Kenney as the voice of Claudis.
Sword of Omens 7/10
ASOE 8/10
Ramlak Rising 7/10 (beginning and ending was really good, also loved captain Tuna (sp?) fishmen ship and the cook)
Song Of The Petalars 6/10 (moments with the lizards were top, didn’t care for the plant people)
I hope we now get a couple of episodes that progress the main and backstories instead of the odd new species encountered!
You’re the 1st person ive seen that likes Ramlak over the petalars. Personally I found the petalars Ep. more whole as a story and development, specially since we get to see the TC signal in the sky and Panthro’s sick entrance
Sword of Omens/Ancient Spirits of Evil = 8/10, a promising start to the series. It set everything in motion, introduced us to the key characters, & gave us some nice nostalgic moments as well.
Ramlak Rising = 6.5/10, ripped off Moby Dick a little too much for my taste. It still looked great & I liked the Thunderkittens, but it still felt like too extreme of a detour from the premier.
Song of the Pedalars = 9/10, I really thought I was going to hate this one, but the message of the episode really hit me deep. Maybe its just because I lost a family member recently, but I was more touched by the episode than I expected. And of course, The Lizards were totally cool here, especially Slythe. And what can I say about Panthro’s debut? It was amazing.
Old Friends = 9/10, loved it. Panthro’s first real story highlighted him well both as a character & as a warrior. A Panthro/Grune feud is now set up and I couldn’t be happier. This was also the first episode to answer some questions we had from the premiere. Also, Samoflange and The Driller were very nice nostalgic touches for us die hards.
This new series has gone above and beyond my expectations. I am glad that others are able to share in this new mythos and have really enjoyed the ride this new team has taken me on thus far. It almost reminds me of Avatar and hopefully the story will continue to evolve and not be mostly filler.
