If You Could Re-Write An Episode Of Thundercats Which Would It Be?

That’s a fantastic idea, Liam! :thumbsup That would have made an awesome finale! Throw in more bad guys into the mix (kinda like what they did in "ThunderCats HO!). It would have added more tension instead of having all of the ThunderCats just waiting frozen at their designated locations until “Gary Stu” Lion-O can do his stuff!

Maybe have the Mutants and Lunataks wreak havoc on Earth, terrorizing the inhabitants. Since Tygra and Pumyra alone wouldn’t be able to handle all those baddies, they would radio in the TCats to send reinforcements. However, the TCats would be torn between going to Earth or staying to save the destruction of New Thundera. There could have been a little bit of conflict within Lion-O who doesn’t want to lose his home planet again.

For obvious reasons, the TCats would decide to go to Earth, even if it means sacrificing New Thundera. But they would defeat the bad guys and return to New Thundera in the nick of time to present the artifacts in the specific locations. Happy Ending!

The only change I would ever have made to any of the episodes would have been the finale. I would have had Tygra and Pumyra join them in getting the items to the relevant locations - it was a real bummer not having them feature in the finale’s action. I would have perhaps even had them return to New ThunDera saying that it was now in good hands and that Mandora and Snowman and Willy & Nayda was in charge. Those two really deserved to join the others. (Maybe Cheetara felt threatened by the Pumyra’s youth and beauty hahaha and asked Lion-O to leave her behind with Tygra)

My thoughts and feelings exactly. If not making them return to New Thundera, they ciuld have them visitng the planet for the finale’s events. Like “So good you two are here” and then BUM! the events arise.

Interesting thoughts about Pumyra - usually the “joke” on here is that Lion-O felt threatened by Tygra as a rival for Cheetara! I do wonder if anything did blossom between Tygra and Pumyra . . . ah, probably not. Maybe they had developed an active dislike of each other, and that’s why they kept watch from separate buildings?

That reminds me. The Tower Of Omens was set up SPECIFICALL to keep watch on the Lunataks in Dark Side. With them out of the picture, surely Cats’ Lair could have been used for all the monitoring anyway?

A 2-part episode would have been great! And better.
Also, the Tower of Omens was destroyed in “Last Day”. With Mumm-Ra, the Mutants and the Luataks out of the picture, why to rebuild it anyway? At least Tygra and Pumyra could have stayed together in CatsLair and make each other’s company (not to mention: clean, cook, make maintenance work, etc in both buildings).

I’d also re-write “Mumm-Rana”, or at least change some stuff about it.

Was that the Exile? Really? Next to Castle Plun-Darr? Sent them to anotehr dimension or something.[/li][li]As a Tygra fan, I have some complains. First, he was the only other TC with lion-O in the whole episode, but his role was minimum. I’d have given him a larger role, as he did pretty much nothing.[/li]
[li]Also, after Mumm-Rana realized Mumm-Ra has tricked her, she teleported Lion-O and Snarf back to CatsLair, but left poor Tygra run all his way from Castle Plun-Darr to the Lair alone. Neither she cared enough for him to show him some respect and consideration and teleport him, not even after all the trouble she got him into. [/li]
[li]Finally, after all the distress he went through, Tygra had to get aborad the Feliner to put the head on CatsLair. I think the poor guy was tired and deserved some rest and laugh (with the usual final “joke” in every episode); couldn’t Panthro or Cheetara do that?[/li][/ol]

Not teleporting him was like sending the underlying message of “he’s not needed now” though LOL. I mean, wouldn’t Lion-O need all the help he could get? After all, he didn’t know how far the Feliner was, and how long it’d take it to get to Third earth.

I think He-Man kind of, but I remember some episodes in which it was another Master the one to save the day at the end.

I wish that for once Lion-O lost the sword of omens somehow. maybe Mumm-Ra managed to get it away from him and he has to spend the episode without it. they could have done a five parter about him losing the sword and the cats could have used their brains to beat the baddies without cheating until the last episode where he gets it back finally and Jaga would be like “I hope you learned your lesson to not rely on the sword to save your butts every time you’re in trouble”. XD

Ii would have been great if they did as you say. Although, I think in writers’ minds a five parter with that plot would have been like this:

The Eye concept was really pointless when you think about it. It alerted and showed him danger…well why not alert him and show him Mumm-Ra plotting his evil scheme instead of waiting until a few seconds before they attack or when they are in danger.
Then the lazy writing of so many episodes having the powers of the sword save the day.
Giving the sword such power and giving it to Lion-O made him the central figure of like every episode. If he just had a regular weapon like the others it would really have made them a better equal team like other 80’s shows and maybe lead to more episodes not centred around Lion-O.

He-Man had episodes were other characters got to show their skill but make no mistake about it, every episode made sure you knew who the main attraction and star of the show was and how he was the most powerful man in the universe.
You are correct, Optimus was not always the problem solver or the main hero in every episode.
Believe it or not Duke is not in all that many episodes of G.I. Joe, but no G.I. Joe allowed for the team to be the stars and some characters of have their shining moment in certain episodes.

Hard to argue with that. It’s basically a magic wand that fixes everything. As a kid I remember knowing that as soon as he called out the catchphrase, that was game over.

Mumm-Ra should have actually gotten rid of the sword. he did once almost permanently when he dropped it into a black hole but I am referring to him getting the sword, which he did quite often, and while everyone was helpless or something he’d toss it into an alternate dimensional portal or something that only he could open.

The problem is that whenever Mumm-Ra or anyone gets rid of the Sword, all Lion-O has to do is call it to his hands and it zooms back to him. :mad:

not if he tosses it into another dimension. or maybe the sword could find him unworthy for awhile and refuse to work for him because he was being a swelled headed creep. XD
